I took delivery of my Maverick on 5/31 after waiting roughly one million years to receive it. After recently giving it a thorough going-over I noticed some fading/oxidation of the plastic molding in several places -- nothing extreme, but nothing I'd expect on a brand new vehicle. The Line-X rep who installed my spray-in bed liner mentioned they've noticed this on quite a few Mavericks and stated that it's a "known issue" caused by extended outdoor storage in the Mexico sun while awaiting parts for build completion.

Have any of you found anything similar on your new steeds, and if so, what was your recourse?

Chemical Guys make a great product. Not slimy or too shiny. Does not leave a residue. Makes the plastic look new.

That is called patina... explain to your wife or GF that this really "means nothing" and move on. You are welcome, buddy.

This is the best money you will spend for black plastic molding on a vehicle. It lasts longer then buying new pieces.
I've ordered some on Amazon, but having never used it before, anyone able to tell me about how many of the little packets/sheets I should expect to use on an older Ford Ranger I'll be cleaning up/prepping for trade in? I searched online but couldn't find such a guesstimate.

ADAM's VRT is a great product to address. 303 as well. Get the Marine version.

I used it liberally and used all 10 packs on my Maverick. I used in on everything including mirrors and window trim. My wife has a Telluride and I used 8.

If you are just trading in I would find a easier product to use. Chemical Guys VRP or Meguiar's black plastic restore. Neither will last but both are much easier to apply and cheaper, just for the trade in process.

Ah, thanks, that's exactly the info I was needing. I don't mind the work, and the stuff isn't that expensive. If $20 nets me a slightly better trade in $$, well worth it. The ranger has a LOT of black trim, including a big front black grill. Thanks!
