I installed my cover. It was a little unclear how to position the cover towards the length of the truck but I hope I found the right spot. When I try too hook the clamps at the end, those are very close to the hooks of the bed but I still can close them. The other issue I have with this cover, that when I drive on the freeway, it flutters super crazily, that I am afraid to loose it. How are the other experiences with those? Otherwise the look of it is fantastic.

Ya, I found the one hook on the passenger side is tougher to get in and is tighter than the other side which is perfect. I do notice some flutter from the cover but I had this with another cover from my Ram a few years ago and it wasn’t an issue.

I am still not sure how close I can/should pull the cover towards the cab. I think when I have closer to the cab, there will be less gap underneath and less wind can go under. Anyone an idea what is the ideal distance to the cab?

I basically guessed too, I think I put mine close to the end in the back without anything sticking out. i did leave some room toward the cab in case the Velcro clips flap so they don’t hit the cab. i do wonder if moving those back further will help make it fit better

Looks nice. Googled and saw the price is now $409. Anyone try the Signature Series one that lists for $459?

I wish Ford would have better integration for bed rack/tonneau cover combos. Actually all truck manufacturers could improve this area. I'd like to have a medium height rack with a roll up tonneau. Some tonneau covers have slots in them but they are crazy expensive. Ford really need offer easy T-slot add on on the bed rails. That seems like the best design as well. Perhaps someone will figure out how to add T-slot add-ons. Lot's of un-utilized surface on those rails. With all the functionality all companies have added to beds this is an area that has been overlooked.

I like the looks of the better than the Ford Soft Rollup I have installed on my XL. I would love to have a photo of how it fits at the bulkhead next to the cab. TIA.

I suspect there would be some similarity between the different XTANG covers. I have the E-Series trifold. When i first installed, I put the front all the way forward nearly touching the rear window of the cab. However, there is a front seal that hangs down and it resulted in the front of the toneau sitting high and also a gap at the tailgate. Readjusting the toneu so the front seal was against the bed fwd bulkhead resulted in a much better fit with no gap at the tailgate. We've had some downpours here and I haven't noticed any water in the front. I did put some some Track Wrap protective film on front painted surface of the bed just below the rear window so I'm not worried about the seal rubbing on the painted portion of the bed. Actually the only part of the toneau install I'm not quite happy with as I have some wrinkles in the wrap. But that's easy enough to fix when it's not windy and not raining.

I have reattached it a few times and find the best fit is in the back near the tailgate. The bottom of the tonneau cover has a lip at the back and it should touch the lip of the trucks plastic rail in the back, but not sit on it. i think that is what you did too. I will eventually take a pic of that. Some people have asked how to fit it, and I think that’s how it works. The other issue with these tonneau covers is even when you got it set up right, it can get crooked once you start tightening the hooks

Realtruck.com gave me a 10% discount at the time I ordered it; I think it was because they kept getting delays on Gator version of the tonneau cover since most people order the cheapest one.

Here is more of what I mean about how to fit the cover right.., the lip on the bottom of the tonneau cover should touch and be flush with the lip on the back plastic tail but not sit on top of it.

I love my signature version. Looks really great but I have two problems with it:
1. It flutters a lot during the drive on the freeway
2. It is not fully water proof and water gets in, in the front and back of the bed

Overall I am still super happy with it and for the price I paid, (400 incl. tax and shipping) I got great value.

When you installed the front clamps next to the back window did the plastic extend down past the metal of the sides of the bed making it necessary to grind off some plastic, Extang makes the point that the clamps need to tighten on metal not plastic and I wanted to know if I will need to grind.

not a problem at all, up you will not need to grind off any plastic on this. The bed and plastic (as well as the spray in bed liner all end at the same point. No cutting needed
