good news is there are 5 new chip plants being built, 2 in Arizona, 2 in Ohio and the largest one ever built in New York.
bad news is it will take a couple years.
Not counting several others (at least seven). Plus world's largest silicon carbide in North Carolina by Wolfspeed.

Thanks a lot for the info. Now a followup question. I have one ordered for my wife at our local small town dealer and one ordered for me at a large volume dealer in Ft. Worth. Do large volume dealers get builds done first, or does it not matter?
I ordered (27oct21) from the nation's largest F Series dealer and got a MY22 Maverick in 374 days (4nov22). I ordered another (9nov21) from a medium size dealer in a small town and I'm scheduled to receive an identical Maverick, but it rolled over to MY23 with estimated delivery in 458 days (~9feb23). Both are Lariat, Hybrid, 360, cyber orange, moonroof, hitch, constraints removed. Both dealers had their sins.

That is my fear. I ordered both MY23's the afternoon the order banks opened up. Both are Lariat Hybrids, Lux, moonroof, spray in bedliner, co-pilot 360, etc. so I am probably looking at 4 weeks after the world comes to an end. This is so crazy because you would think the higher the dollar, the quicker they would want to make and sell it, but not so. I guess they use one type of chip for EB computer and other types of chips for Hybrids.

Not necessarily but because they sell more vehicles, they will probably get more allocations.

@JBryant Dealer allocations are figured by a dealers sales volume each month and gives allocations based on a rolling 12 month average. On the Maverick, it's not based 100% on Maverick sales. 30% is based on Maverick, the other 70% is based on Escape, Ranger, and Bronco Sport sales as well.
The thing I have never understood about that logic is that seems to be circular logic where;

1) Cars are in short supply so you could not sell a lot.
2) You did not sell a lot so we will reduce your allocation.
3) You get a lower allocation so you sell even less. Go to step 2.

Maybe this is Fords way of reducing the number of Ford dealerships.

The opposite would also happen and a dealership who starts out with a better than average supply would get positive feedback and get most of the supply. Maybe with one super mega dealer in each region, like maybe one in Salina Kansas for the central US. :)

Because of the laws Ford cannot sell cars directly but they might be able to set up a few large surrogate dealers that can.

The big question is if Ford management is using the plan of a diabolical genius or just sort of figuring stuff out as they go. If I had to bet I would also bet on the latter.

From the numbers I have seen it also looks like Ford will probably be able to make all the Ecoboosts orders by the spring. I would be surprised if they would not still build a customers Ecoboost order just because a dealership did not have an allocation for it.

I have pretty much given up on worrying about allocations though since most sales people that I have talked to either did not know what their allocation relative to their sales would be or they would not say. When they did say something about their allocation you could not know if they were telling the truth.

A long time ago I figured out that in life that worrying about something where worrying will not make a difference does not help.

When I was placing my order in September it was impossible to tell just which dealers would have good allocations relative to their orders which is part of why I placed two orders at different dealers even though I only plan to buy one Maverick.

I should really have probably placed a dozen orders at different dealerships since most of them only required a refundable deposit or no deposit.

In fairness though back in September when the orders were being placed I doubt that any dealership knew what their allocations would be or how Ford really planned on doing allocations. I think as late as August they said they had a totally diferent allocation plan.
