100% it does. Here is my sound deadening setup. Engine cover, hood mat backed with 1/4 HDPE foam, wiper cowl insulator from a Bronco Sport which is also now backed with 1/4 HDPE adhesive foam cut to match the shape, fender well insulators. Not in this picture is 1/8 Armaflex pipe wrap on the intake tube where it wraps around the back of the high pressure fuel pump. Injector noise is now at a level I would consider acceptable.
I found the hood mat on Amazon for 75 bucks and I watched the video. Does the front of the hood mat sag in the front? Also, you stuck on HDPE foam on the hood and then installed the hood mat? If this makes a noticeable difference then I just may do this in the spring.

I added the self adhesive foam to the back of the mat. The mat was fairly stiff but it did sag at certain points. I used a hole punch to add additional fastening points. Maxzina will probably provide you with additional hardware if you message them. Even with the added fastners it still wasn't 100% flush so I used adhesive clips in the problem areas. One big warning I have is DO NOT use the supplied fastners in the bottom far left and right corners. They are too long and will put divets in the top of the hood when tightened. Use plastic rivets or shorter screws. I will take pictures tomorrow of what I am talking about.
Everything I added made a small difference, the engine cover being the most noticeable. It took everything together to get noise levels down to acceptable levels. Ford knows this. Check out the giant foam mountain they
put on top the 2.3 ecoboost HPFP. It is in addition to the small foam cap we got and a foam engine cover.

I will post detailed pictures tomorrow.

Looks good. I know that emblem. It's a 87-93 Mustang steering wheel repro. Am I right? Geez, I must of spent well over $100 on Ford emblems trying to find a good match for the Lincoln cover. What's wrong with me?
Nothing is wrong with you, your a maverick owner 👍😀

Here are the pictures of my hood mat. I could have done a better job with the clips and extra fasteners. Some are not quite symmetrical. Also the cowl insulation and intake wrap. The intake wrap is doing double duty as sound deadening and IAT insulation. The factory intake has heat shielding on the bottom, so in my reasoning a little more won’t hurt. The foam I cut to back the cowl insulator unfortunately shrunk after I pulled the paper off the adhesive backing so the cut is not perfect. To be honest I wasn’t sure I could live with the direct injection noise, I thought I made a mistake buying the ecoboost. I had that awful sinking feeling of regret. Now I am okay with it.

A little update: after posting pictures, my hood mat started to look a little too DIY and wonky to me. I decided to pull it back down and redo the mounting points. I really didn’t like the supplied screw and clasp hardware. After a lot of searching I found some Honda plastic rivets that worked in the square channels. Using a combination of these and off the shelf plastic pins I was able to convert all the mounting points to push type fasteners. While it was off I replaced the Amazon foam with Dynaliner.
Just a word of warning if you do install the mat; the clearance between the end of the clasp / screw hardware and the hood shell is scary close in some spots. Be very careful when tightening them down.
Next I’m going to add Dynaliner to cavity behind the rear seats! Oh boy!

Have you noticed less engine noise since installing the engine cover?
Yes it has been on for awhile and it’s noticeably quieter
