Sorry if this was posted somewhere! Just noticed this week 700 miles on new Mav.

My XLT AWD, when coming to a stop, the engine does not always shut down?
Of course with different weather related items in the on inside the vehicle, heat, air, seats or steering wheel,
that effects decision for computer to shut down.

I find that at a stop apply just a little more pressure on the brake I can shut down immediately until I release.
( continual pressure ) till stopped nothing really taxing the system.

This is fine with me but does anyone know if this was a build in to the software? This has helped me when I am at those lights that are generally 47 sec to minute +

It measures brake pressure. If the engine is off at a light and you anticipate the light changing soon, you can let up slightly on the brake for the engine to restart so you won't have that slight delay to get going again.

Well......not exactly. It does measure the brake pressure as one factor when deciding whether or not to turn off the engine. But you don't even have to keep your foot on the brake for it to turn off or stay off.

I've tested this many times at the same intersections. If I roll up to a stop slowly/mostly with engine braking/using very little brake pressure, it almost never turns off my engine. If I come to a stop at the same intersection by using heavier braking, it usually DOES turn off my engine. If I came to a stop with little pressure, I can then push the brake pedal while already at a stop and it will with about 90% frequency decide to turn off my engine. I don't keep my foot on the brake, I just "pump" it once. Then my foot is on neither the brake or gas. When I want to start again, I jiggle wheel. I've found that restarting by goosing the gas seems to feel like a rougher start. The steering wheel jiggle feels better.

Ohh, and also need to mention this is using the brake hold feature. That's why I don't keep my foot on the brake.

Regen for the win. That is a common occurrence, hybrids ICE turns on/off at will and not necessarily when you expect.
If everything shutsdown lights/radio dash etc. then it could be a bad module. I returned a brand new Lariat when it acted up similar to how you described but could be reading my issues with new Maverick with yours. Explain more details could help understand your Mav problems.

In Sport mode the engine does keep running much more than other modes.

You could turn on brake hold function. It won’t roll off of the line until you hit the throttle.

When I Had my Hybrid XLT it was always quiet for first mile depending on interior comfort settings, and always off or at least in waiting mode for acceleration.
With This AWD XLT the extra little push on the brake at a stop shuts engine down (good thing) It was just interesting
I didn't see any post about the little ways to conserve fuel?

Plenty of post from people who want to go around shut off mode!

I like the my control part of shutting down every time!
