Engine air filter change at 30000kms

The manual suggests I do it much later but because I live rural and get more dust than in the big city, I decided to do it early. Plus we're expecting a smokey summer so I felt it was the right choice to start fresh.

Like you, I much prefer condition-based maintenance. The manual has suggested intervals for normal use. Obviously at 30,000km/18,600 miles your conditions are harsher and the pics prove it. You might also check your cabin air filter too. Instructions are in the owner's manual.

I do my own DIY maintence too. I make a sticker using blue painter's tape and a Sharpie to record date and mileage [kilometerage?] and put it on the driver's door jamb. That way I don't need to wonder or hunt around for paperwork showing when last I did something.

I'm in GA with spring pollen blooms that can kill an elephant which become a yellow paste in/on things with the humidity that follows.

I already know it's a two pollen season(year) change on any air filter (engine/passenger) on all my vehicles regardless of mileage.

Beware of Amazon filters. Some are cheap knock offs that don't have much filter material in them, or they are made of a material they provides too much restriction.

Nice. Filters are cheap and it amazes me how much people spend on vehicles yet they don't do basic preventative maintenance like air filters.
