Enable backup camera without reversing / backing up?

Is there anyway to turn on the backup camera without putting the truck in reverse?

I don't think so.
But you can set it to camera delay.
Once you go in reverse, it will stay on in drive until you exceed 5 mph I think it is.

There should be a way like a button to activate the rear camera whenever you want. There must be some fed restriction like they think it is a distraction. I think it would be better to glance at a remote camera view than looking through the mirrors sometimes. On many newer cars you get a camera view in the dash when you turn your signal on but I do not think you can keep those camera views active permanently either.

Yep I want to use the rear camera as an additional rearview mirror at times as well!

especially when the center mirror is blocked by a load. set my motorhome that way with a bumper cam powered by an up fitter switch fed into the Nav, turned on as needed. works great. The hand off from cam to side mirrors is perfect.

Wish it did. I went with a rear view mirror dash cam with rear camera as default showing in rear view mirror.

The reality is that the rear camera on the Maverick does not have the frame rate nor the resolution to be effective at speed and would be totally useless.

Coming from a Model 3 where I could leave my rear camera on all the time - and it was much better resolution and frame rate than the Maverick - as well as both side view cameras - it was simply a novelty and not something I ever relied on while driving.
