Egr cooler failure on Ecoboost?

Saw someone else's thread. Where that lost coolant level, and throttle and a burnt electrical smell.


2.0 2022 EcoBoost.
Has a burnt electrical smell out the exhaust.
I'm having those same issues and burning tons of coolant. When it sits off it still has power on first start and even after a few minutes everything seems fine except light smoke steam, but something is bad. I thought a head gasket but no milkshake oil and has power without any misfire. On my way home last night I got stranded. Lost all throttle response. I limped it to a gas station got a tow truck and towed home. When I got home I drove it off the tow truck into a parking spot and it felt fine aside for the light white smoke.

Anyone else narrowed it down to a bad egr cooler as well on their truck ? The burnt electrical smell s what throws me off. It's something I never experienced out a exhaust.

Smoke of any color is not good. Instead of asking forum members who are as qualified as yourself to diagnose it I suggest you tow it to a competent mechanic. Or throw parts at it until you find the bad one. If you have been BURNING coolant it was never going to improve.

Just trying to see how many egr cooler failures have been on the maverick EcoBoost. Seems the edge and escape have a lot . Enough for a tsb

A search turned up 6 comment including these 3 on the forum. I guess not common. Check the 2 links at the bottom of this page. Not being sarcastic trying to help. Please don't take it wrong. Your thread was the first I had seen of it. I hope it is a simple, economical fix. there are few more on a Google search.

The smell is about right for burning coolant, they started using a bittering agent in the coolant a number of years back to stop pets & wildlife from drinking it. If its not misfiring then its most likely the cooler
