If Ford had allowed steelies on the 2022 XLT (got it mainly to have folding mirrors and cruise) and because we got it in white and if they had stainless trim rings available after market when we ordered in Dec of 2021, I would have wanted to get them as a "remembering" of my favorite pickup that our Maverick looks similar to in color/tonneau/black rear bumper, and left the wheels argent and painted center cap black with stainless trim rings.

I like the original look of the steelies. I am interested in what you come up with though.
I love steel rims. They're much cheaper to replace, and it doesn't really matter if they get scraped up. Most cars really don't have any need for low profile tires and huge aluminum rims. Like so many other options in the car industry, it's become a standard assumption that buyers want, but don't actually benefit from. Unless you're driving on a track (and therefore trying to shave seconds on your time) most people would benefit from a softer ride with rims that are cheap to replace.

Went the powder coat / Crow Vic center caps route...

How much was the steel wheel powder coat? I was quoted $650 plus tax in No VA. I think I could replace the rims for that price in 5-10 years when mine rust out.

You can straighten a bent steel wheel with a wooden block and hammer. Don't think I'd try that with an alloy wheel.

I've repaired bent steel wheels with a hammer but you can't do that with aluminum wheels.
