As of this morning my rail car has departed on flat car from Edgemoor, DE (after being in Port Wilmington all day yesterday) so I assume my truck is on the ground at the Port! Now time to start watching United Roads - my VIN/shipment is still 'inactive' on their site.

Yeah, don't get too excited. I was lulled into false hope thinking that after my truck came all the way from Mexico they'd actually be able to get it from Wilmington to the dealer in a timely manner.

What a joke! 🤬

The false hope is real, I was supposed to see my XLT arrive between the 5th and the 11th of December, as standard procedure I heard nothing of delay till last night via an email on the 13th. My current delivery date is between the 9th and the 15th of January.

I am honestly to the point it shows up when it does. I been in communication with my dealer which they have been fantastic and anytime calling Ford has been decent but getting communications without prompting for communication has been abysmal. Like "Hey your order is once again delayed but were gonna tell you 2 days after it has already delayed."

OK, so you've got my attention now! How long was your truck there? Or, is it STILL there?

Mine was in Wilmington for a week last May. Medium sized dealership in Virginia but it got passed over multiple times and vehicles dropped off after mine got delivered first. My father's has been sitting in Wilmington since yours got there and just this morning changed from inactive to pending.

That's right. Your poor Dad -- get the man his truck!

I just called Ford Marketing. As of now, my estimate for delivery is still 12/18, but considering that's Sunday (dealers in PA closed on Sundays) and my truck is still "pending pickup" with no ETA, I wouldn't put any money on meeting that. Heck, now that I realize what a bottleneck the Wilmington yard is, I really don't know if I'll get it this year.

I had mentioned way back in a previous post that a salesman I know from another local Ford dealer took delivery of his personal Maverick in November, and he told me that the truck sat in Wilmington for almost a MONTH before finally being delivered. So...

I share all of your late-delivery pains. My truck has been sitting in a rail yard, apparently waiting to get transferred to a local rail, where it can make final delivery to the local port, then to get picked up by truck and delivered to the dealer.

It's been at the current yard for almost two weeks now. My delivery date was estimated for 12/9-12/15, and after reaching out to Ford chat yesterday, I found out it was moved to 12/15-12/21.

Since it sounds like it still needs to move once more by train and once by truck, I am pretty skeptical it will make it by the end of the year. It will be super exciting to see folks taking delivery of their '23MY trucks before my '22 order even reaches the dealer. /s

Yes I am. Another Bronco Sport showed up today. When my truck first went to "pending pickup," it was just my Maverick and one BS. Since, two more BS have shown up. So, four vehicles for my dealer queued up at Wilmington yard. Not sure if there have to be a certain number, say five or more, before they'll bother with them, or what.

At any rate, all of the vehicles coming into the Newark, NJ, rail yard seem to be delivered within a day or two of arrival. At this point, all the F-150s and Explorers scheduled to be delivered to my dealer from Newark have been. So, the only vehicles waiting to go there are the four sitting in Wilmington.

For whatever reason, I'm guessing the Wilmington yard is an absolutely massive bottlneck in the auto delivery network. Not sure if they serve a large portion of the Mid-Atlantic region out of that hub or what, but obviously they are not able to keep up with the flow of vehicles that must arrive on a daily basis.

Understood - I went from Inactive to Pending Pickup in United Road this afternoon. My truck is coming down to Northern Virginia so I'll keep you updated. If the eye ball test does anything then, yes, the Wilmington yard is a mess just by driving by and looking at the sea of cars....

From what I can tell, there are 18 (!) Maverick's Pending Pickup going to my dealer currently in Wilmington....

O-M-G! I guess that smashes my theory that once there are enough vehicles to fill a truck, they'll get them and bring them in.

21 waiting to go to Chapman now with some having already been delivered despite coming in after my father's, there were only a few waiting when his got to the yard. Really nothing we can do, for all we know this is on the transportation company and their logistics and neither Ford or the dealership has anything to do with when they get picked up.
