Ecoboost "D" indicator changes intensity going up hills

I've noticed it on my Maverick. But it's not just the D, it's the brightness of the dash lights. Like it can't tell whether or not to dim or not.

Since, we are on the subject of Crazy Things..
I have the Original Sound system for the lowly XL...
I have noticed that the sound / volume, will dropdown, when I apply the brakes to come to a stop..
I thought I was "Hearing Things" ,
But, I recently conversed with the guy, who lead me to purchase my Maverick. (He had purchased, "Blu's" brother... ). And He said the say thing..

I can’t remember where it is exactly, but somewhere in settings there is an auto function which will automatically lower and raise the volume according to changing speeds.

Usually called speed compensating volume.

I have only had my Mav for two years now....
I had Rangers for 34 years, and I am still getting use to ALL of These "BELLS & WHISTLES"..

The indicator on the dash instrument cluster or the indicator on the shifter knob? Or both?

I've never looked all the way down at the shifter knob while I'm driving, so I can't say if it's both or just the dash indicator.

But the dash indicator will swap the D between red and green, and I've never seen anything that says why. I'd make a joke about it being a Christmas celebration, but it does it year round. Doesn't seem to correlate to anything I've noticed so far. Maybe it's whether the hybrid battery needs charge??? No clue.

Gotta love this assurance in manual.
Not "will illuminate when dash lights are on" perhaps being more descriptive.
"Could" - ok so I won't freak out if it does or doesn't the way I'd think it should.

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION POSITION INDICATORS

The instrument cluster displays the current position.

Note: The position could illuminate on the transmission selector.

Alternator and RPM for light changes in EB.

Also depends on what part of the charging process is it in - at start with full power, or later on in drive with reduced power.
Bet you can see differences between those times too.

I'd guess less difference near start of drive, since full power already going out.
Should be all the lights though - hate to suggest staring at anything while driving - but perhaps passenger could watch the lights on climate control area.
