Dumb question - Why are the mud flaps on the Maverick

I live in the city and would certainly appreciate the assist to MPG over the ability to drive over sticks.
Opinions about their usefulness aside, I'm just searching for a part that I lost so that I have a complete vehicle.
Thanks for your time, and if you're able to convince others to rip them off, send them my way! $20 is more than the trash can will give ya.

It might not be charging going up because it's using the energy generation to provide electric torque assist. And going down the engine can be turning to brake but using minimal fuel doing so. But I guess you know better than the system engineers.

I did not. I went another route and had the remaining 3 removed.
