installed on the front side of the wheel well instead of the back side?

I have always seen them installed on the rear portion of the wheel well. Not sure what purpose they serve on the front side of the wheel well.

Just curious.

Its a 0.000001 increase in corporate fleet economy. Aerodynamics. Also its a good way to put more plastic into the ocean, a process of which requires more oil to produce, create, ship install, and eventually get ripped off with regular use. Plastic parts suck.

Are they even mud flaps if they're in front of the wheel? Also, does anyone have a recommendation for good flaps? I'm not trying to spend $100+ on those Ford ones.

I defer to DanMAV1701, correct answer is wheel spats. That's how you get 47mpg.

They are wheel spats. Their purpose is to deflect air before it hits the tire for aerodynamics.

Did you keep them off or put them back on?
I know a guy that ran over a deer and needs a replacement rear driver-side spat (it's me, I'm the guy).

That's funny, right there. Not the running over the deer, but the "it's me, i'm the guy" part! LOL
