Hello all,
Just picked up my Maverick from the dealer after the serpentine belt slipped off the pulleys. I’ve owned my ecoboost Maverick for just over a year and she has 7500 miles on her.
Repair report stated: “Inspected and found the the belt was damaged from slipping off the pulleys and found none to be damaged or seized. Found in the WSM diagram of the serpentine belt the vehicle is supposed to have a shield on the tensioner to protect the belt but found no shield and no signs that the shield was ever installed from factory. Removed the lower scruff shield and removed the A/C compressor belt. Installed a new serpentine belt. Reinstalled the A/C belt. Installed the scruff shield, and installed the shield over the belt tensioner with new hardware. Tested and found that the vehicle is now operating normally.”
Serpentine belt initally slipped off on 11/06, was towed to dealership on 11/08, looked at and part ordered 11/11, part delivered and repair completed on 11/18.
I was able to get a rental after my Maverick was towed to the dealership and I’ll miss the endearing little eco sport they put me in but am glad to have my truck back!
For those interested, here’s the Part that was installed.
For those super interested, I’ve attached a video of the belt slipping off
