Does the artificial engine sound only work on the LOBO speakers?
The Lariat, Tremor, and the Lobo models all have the “enhanced engine” sound. It plays through whichever speakers your truck is equipped with:)

Oh, ok. Thank you for setting me straight on this ‘Chops’. Wish my Mav had paddle shifters, my wife’s Honda does and it’s great when I say I have to go to the store, can I use your car? 😉 so on the LOBO, the ‘M’ just replaces the ‘L’ on the other ones. Gonna start looking into trading my XLT in.🤔
In addition to the Lobo, the Lariat & Tremor models have paddle shifters I think? Hopefully the XLT will get them soon….
Personally, I could not drive an automatic or CVT without paddles. The paddles on the Lobo work so nice!

2025 Lariat does NOT have paddle shifters

I can't confirm "enhanced" (fake)engine sounds on Lariat either. I took a 2025 Tremor for a road test and you could most definitely hear the fake engine noises. I don't notice them at all on my Lariat. I thought the Tremor sounded way cool though.

I'd like to hear (no pun intended) more about this. I might try it.
If it doesn't work you can always plug the holes with those plastic push-on rivets like they use in the fender wells. That way it will look like OEM instead of tape.
Ok, I’ve driven hundreds of miles with holes open & dozens of miles with holes taped over. I’ve also driven thousands of miles in other vehicles with multiple “cold air intakes” installed.

My conclusion is that the “holes open” on my resonator gives a subtle but slightly noticeable growl when giving 3/4 throttle from zero to sixty five. Multiple back to back runs on same road with tape on & tape off. The tape is now off for good!

I will soon get a new radiator & fan due to a recall. Not sure if the resonator will be replaced also. It seems to have a slightly different “neck” tube where it enters the intake tube…if I do get a new resonator - I will be more careful drilling the holes:)

I remember when BMW first got caught piping badass engine sounds through a speaker in the dash. The real Ford Mustangs not that EV abortion wrongly wearing the Mustang badge, started doing this years ago. Only way to imitate a powerful engine sound when it’s not a V-8.
Vroom Vroom sells. L~o~L
There’s no replacement for displacement.

Kinda reminds me of back in the 1980's when I would flip the air cleaner cover over on my 1976 Torino (351W/FMX/2 barrel carb) so it would "sound cool"....

Do you hear the turbo more?
Nope. But I can’t hear the turbo ever really? I think it is at a frequency higher than my hearing level:)

The resonator is just a hollow space. I was expecting complex sound canceling baffles and walls inside. Nope, empty box.

The resonator is way too far “upstream” to affect the sound of the turbo I imagine. I was hoping for a subtle increase in intake sucking sound - which I swear I notice I think.

Did you know that at low idle, our Maverick EB’s suck air like a handheld vac - but at high boost they suck more air than an industrial grade shop vac!
Pizza Oven heat sucking up to 600CFM.

Why do I feel like Cliff Claven sometimes?

Louder engines are faster, but not as fast as red paint. It is known.

This is my first turbo vehicle also. Always had big displacement V-8’s. I still can’t tell when the turbo ‘kicks in’. I still guess I’m used to the sound of the 4 barrel carbs kicking in, that’s the sound I remember. Maybe over time. “With the air cleaner lid turned upside down! 🤭

Long Term Update:

1) Driiled the holes 6 months ago. Noticed a subtle increase in sound which I liked - like a “Cold” Air Intake mod (I’ve done a few on previous vehicles).

2) Taped them closed and removed taped a few times to confirm my hearing.

3) Left them taped closed since since maybe 10/25. Installed a horrendous sounding Borla Catback in the meantime. Fixed the Borla to sound nice.

4) Removed the tape a couple weeks ago. It is a subtle but better sound in my opinion:)

Still need to have Ford install the proper 4K radiator instead of the OEM they installed by mistake during assembly. Going to tape over the holes when I bring it in for that recall. Maybe have them install the 300T intercooler then since they’ll have everything removed;)
