I'm curious for what the savings were for anyone that has downsize from a full size truck to a hybrid. I'm currently looking at putting in an order for a hybrid when the order banks open back up. Mainly because I'm tired of knowing how much money I could save if I gave up my full size F-150 for a Maverick Hybrid. Has the Maverick lived up to the hype for anyone that has done this? Currently I'm sitting at 18 MPG average for my F-150.

Yep,I have a Lariat Hybrid 2022. Drove off the dealership 3 May 2022 and 7 fillups later(today 2 May 2023) I'd say Heck yeah!!! Big difference from the 1996 F-150 I did have!

Absolutely. I sold a RAM 1500 full size and went with Maverick hybrid. Just got back from a 1,400 mile trip MOSTLY HIGHWAY and averaged over 42 mpg at 72 mph cruising speed. I saved over $145.00 on fuel on that one trip alone. I was doing about 18.5 on my RAM, so was in almost same boat as you. Would have cost about $55,000 for another RAM vs $34,500 for a fully loaded Maverick Lariat hybrid with all bells and whistles. No contest, and I honestly am more comfortable after a long trip in the Maverick that I would have been in the RAM.

I drive 80% highway at 80MPH and am doubling your mileage, averaging 36MPG combined .

The definitive answer is YES.

I drove a ‘05 F-150 XL 2WD with a 6 banger before taking delivery of a ‘23 Hybrid XLT. I was getting ~17MPG with general use and upwards of 20MPG on extended highway travel. I am amazed at the ~50MPG the Maverick gets around town. As you can see, petro use is 1/3 of what I had been getting with the F-150. I held onto the old truck to finish up a few big projects and while I will miss the old bird when she’s gone, I figure the one grand in annual gas savings will ease the seperation!

Depends on a few different factors but you will save a lot at the pump for sure. If you're not towing heavy trailers regularly, a hybrid should do everything you need in a truck. Otherwise if your truck is older with a boat load of miles might be worth hanging on to it for towing. Its value would have bottomed out and will not depreciate any more. Just have to crunch the numbers with insurance, tags, and a place to park it and all. One thing to consider is as fuel prices trend upward, so will your savings. You can count on reducing your fuel cost by at least half or more. 18 mpg vs 40-45.

I had a Texas Edition Silverado with 400 mile average at 18 mpg and just got my best hyper mileage at 25 miles of 32 mpg when I sold it back to dealership for more money then I drove it off lot 7 years earlier.
Wasn’t using it much, Covid kept me off the ranch and home bound, and I got a Prius for the increased trips across town where parking garages are tricky in full sized trucks.
Learned about Ford Hybrid Truck and it seemed like it could be real, and a bargain at 20K a few months later. So I did what most here and fought Ford maze of crashing websites, and email dropping dealerships, markup and deposit shenanigans and salespeople who had to be sent links from the FordGuy in Kansas to know what newish hoops Ford added to an already confusing process.

So you will save money,

truck preforms carrying plywood and foam sheets as shown on videos and my first trip spotter says nothing moved or bounced in our load in high speed country roads including pure dirt ones. Makes loading and unloading so much easier and its lighter weight doesn’t leave dents in my grass like my full sized Truck. Being narrower and shorter does have advantages in that I used to use a heavy load hauler and a lawn tractor to gather stuff which often got retransferred into the high bed of the Silverado. Still have the last load of large earth filled planters in the tow dump wagon.
The Maverick can get everywhere that setup could and needs no retransfers. Big plus is keeping the hybrid running in ready mode and being able to just get right up to work sites and hop in and out as needed. The engine turning on so rarely it makes a dream to work without idling exhaust nearby.
Get one your first fillup and you will know savings are real. I can fill both my Prius and Maverick gas tanks combined for less than my Silverado tank, Prius gets 3x and Maverick 2.5x the mileage so would that be 5.5x per tank full of a full sized truck tank.
When the Silverado was my full time and only ride I would fill up once a week on average. The Maverick once a month if only it gets used. But been using the Prius for camping and Storm chasing mostly the last two months. Would never go back to a non-hybrid again.

We kept our F-150 and added the hybrid Maverick, which replaced an H3 Hummer. The Mav gets used on all shorter trips around town and up to about 3 hours away, as long as we don't need the storage of the F-150. The F-150 is used for long trips when we carry a lot. Our fuel costs have been roughly cut in half. Yeah, we like the Maverick with all the cool features it has that the F-150, and certainly the H3, does not have (heated seats, heated steering wheel, backup camera, etc).

I had went from a `17 RAM 1500 to an XTL Hybrid and I was calculating roughly a savings of $600 - 800$ every 6 months. That's based on insurance being all but chopped in half, only needing to fill up the tank every other week vs. every 5/6th day, maintenance for the actual truck itself and Oil changes go from every 3k miles to every 10k-12k miles.

In real time experience since getting it back in January 2021, I've noticed that I only need to fill up every other week, little to no maintenance (for now) and my insurance actually dropped over half of what it was with my RAM. As well as getting 4X the fuel economy than the RAM.

The only true sacrifice I made getting the Maverick is the bed size, ride height and off road capability. But all in all, I LOVE MY MAVERICK!!!

I'm getting anywhere between 35 and 42 miles per gallon on my hybrid

My 22 F150 gets 21-22mpg when not loaded. 18mpg usually towing a trailer.
My Mav hybrid gets 40-42 mpg usually. Big difference.

Yep, I've been getting ~38mpg on my '23 XLT Hybrid. The Maverick has replaced 3 vehicles in my fleet; a 2010 Chevy Tahoe PPV that gets 16mpg; a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe that gets 25mpg and a 2020 Mazda Miata that gets about 32mpg. The Chevy and Hyundai were bought with cash, so they didn't owe me anything. I was making payments on the Mazda. The payment on the Maverick is $3 more per month than the Mazda. Going from 3 vehicles to 1 is saving me about $400 a month in insurance (Florida) and the Mav costs about $50 to fill up an gets about 500 miles to the tank. I'd estimate the total monthly savings around $1,300 or so (payment, gas and insurance).

I'm very happy that I went with the hybrid. It does everything I need it to do.

Just got our first Hybrid first pickup a month ago, it's been awesome!
-better ground clearance when the crazy thunderstorms create giant puddles in roads
-comfortable seating and visibility.
-not too wide to fight into tight places (and park in garage)
-bed is easy to reach into. Yesterday wife (5'4") took first load of a 100' pine tree we had someone chop down to get rid of- cut into 18" sections. She lowered the tailgate and was able to reach all of the pieces from there or reaching over the side.

Keep in mind it's a "compact" truck. We keep the front seats almost all the way back, legroom in the back seat like that is not as spacious as it is in a minivan or big SUV.

We're averaging 42mpg driving mostly city on some SERIOUSLY hilly areas, we get about 16mpg in our Honda Odyssey for the same driving.
