This has happened twice now in the last couple weeks on my Lariat and I haven't been able to reproduce it, but wondering if anyone has had a similar issue? Or if there's something specific I might be doing wrong?

First instance: I stopped at a gas station, turned off the (pushbutton) ignition, and exited the car. Key stayed inside the vehicle. After pumping gas I went to get back inside and the car was locked.

Second instance: I started the truck to warm it up, left it running with the key inside, and came back a few minutes later and the door was locked, with the engine running and key inside.

In both cases I was able to get back in with the keypad, but if someone who didn't know the password was driving that'd be problematic.

I thought perhaps I'd touched the auto lock grooves on the door handle getting out, but theoretically that shouldn't work with the key inside. Or if it did, I should be able to unlock with the handle, but that didn't work.

Has anyone else had this issue? Or know what it might be?

Is there more than one fob inside the truck ? That can cause that issue otherwise it shouldnt happen. If the car is running then it can also happen. The truck SHOULD recognize the fob inside the truck and not allow it to lock but Ive had to do lockouts on many new Fords with a fob inside with my locksmith business :)

Just one Fob. Do you think it's related to the auto lock touch system on the door handle, and the system thinking the fob is outside when exiting, but not recognizing it when trying to get back in?

Shouldnt be. The truck should recognize the fob inside or outside the truck within like 10 feet.

My lariat handle lock and unlock features don't work at all. I plan to check more tomorrow, the key fob has a feature to enable to disable it and I'm hoping mine is just not enabled. \

I leave my key in my vehicles while at work and used remote start from my phone, i don't lock my doors and just leave the key in the console, the remote start may have a setting to lock, when i went to leave today i had to pull out my phone to unlock it, touching the handle which should have picked up my key in the car didnt work and i forgot the door code since i didnt add a new one, only had the maverick for a few days.

There are settings that once known or understood should clear any issues up.

Not mav related but my 2016 Colorado driver window rolls down and up by itself some times when driving.

I like to think it’s a transformer.

Chris, my Intelligent Access quit working yesterday for no reason - once I went into settings and turned off system and then on again, started working again...I will be watching for any updates from you or Ford Motor Company

I think I diagnosed the issue, which was user error. As the manual door lock toggle switch is right night to the door lever, I think I may have pushed the door lock with my hand as I pulled the handle and pushed to open the door.... I just tested it and sure enough I was able to lock the door with the key inside. Fortunately it was just the drivers door, so the other doors still open, and the keypad works too.

3 times in the first week I had my XLT (with the flip key fob) I had the drivers door lock on me when I got out to clean snow off the windshield... and like you, it was only the drivers door that locked.

I finally figured out that when I was pushing the door open I was also pushing on the manual door lock. It hasn't happened since I changed the way I push the door open.

The little manual lock lever should be mounted below the larger door handle lever, instead of above, then this would likely never be an issue.

Glad it’s not just me… clearly it’s a design flaw:)
