Do you have that "One Road" that confuses your transmission? (Ecoboost)

Had my Maverick working on two years now. No real complaints. It is what it is. No complaints about the transmission either, but I'm fascinated that there is one section of one road that's guaranteed to confuse the transmission. A modest, slow, gentle descent that always has the transmission in a too-low gear so the engine is way over-revving. I have to press the accelerator to end it. Almost like you were using compression braking. It's the only road anywhere that the transmission just doesn't seem to manage well. I should add I live in the mountains and am up and down hills all day long. Just this one hill, and it's not anywhere near the biggest or steepest. Really a small downhill section.

Just curious if anyone has has that little section of road on their daily drive that manages to stump the transmission logic?

I have been on a couple roads where my truck reacted like that. I think it's on purpose. Since it's a long grade, the regenerative braking charges the hv battery - basically useful engine braking by the electric drive. Once the hv battery is fully charged, the truck can no longer use regenerative braking, so it switches to use the ICE as engine braking instead (rather than just letting the truck coast as fast as it wants, which could be, um, interesting if the road is windy).
ETA I see the OP was an Ecoboost and that makes much less sense.

Yep, same down here in the hills of SE Ohio. Certain grades (& speeds) trigger the engine braking more than others. Slow down or speed up to compensate.

Another opportunity to b@tch at Ford for not offering Select-shift on the Mav.....🤬
