A few years ago someone told me to get a tonneau cover for a truck so it can be more “aerodynamic” (air trapped in the bed). Will it actually help MPG or was it just a myth? Thanks

Ya it’s a known thing. Tonneau cover does help aerodynamics and MPG. See:

Mythbusters say otherwise
Sort of? Mythbusters said it was about the same as having the tailgate up without one, but didn't present the raw data.

Probably makes no difference on MPG. But it keeps anything in the truck bed from being visible. If it's a "hard" cover it makes taking a look more difficult.

And most of us are of the opinion they just look nice.

I've read many things over on the subject, and a reasonable MPG gain with a bed cover is about 2 mpg. Anything greater is a plus.
