Ford Maverick DIY Grabby Brakes Fix (for Hybrid Maverick) A4324D6F-F3A7-4C74-90C6-8825FB5EAFDE

It's the latter half of December.
Software fixes should be rolling out soon.

I'm keeping expectations in check.
I'm expecting an improvement.
I'm not expecting the problem to go away entirely. Would be nice if it did but it's a pretty tough problem to eliminate. Lots of variables including wet, damp, dew, cold, rust, in addition to infinite road conditions and driver inputs.

Here's to hoping for the best in the next few weeks.
🍻
Looks like a fix is in…

Interesting they are lumping EGR sensor issues in with the ABS brakes reprogram on the same TSB. Twofer?

DIY Grabby Brakes Fix

I swear this works for me.
For at least 15 out of 15 days.

When able, when safe, as soon as possible on your first drive of the day, get up to 25 or 30 mph, look behind you, then BRAKE FIRMLY. No need to screech the tires or evoke ABS. Brake briskly enough to exceed regen, and get about 50% hydraulic braking power. Continue strong braking until you stop. That's it. As an alternative, shift to N and do your first stop of the day in N.

I will not feel "grabby" brakes no matter how many times I try after doing this.

I live in a coastal area (SF Bay) with fog and dew most mornings. I feel heating the brakes, drying the brakes, shedding surface rust, whatever helps in my scenario. Can't be a fluke if it worked 15 times in a row, right?

I can't prove dampness is a root cause. MAYBE the dumb truck needs to "learn" something from that first application of hydraulic brakes. Stupid if that's it because it "forgets" overnight.

Do it safely. Pay attention to who if anyone is behind you.

Try it and report back if this helps your Maverick.

I agree Ford needs a permanent remedy.
Sounds like they are working on it. Please TRY this and see if it helps you, before the Ford update comes out.

15 out of 15 for me.
Not proof of anything.
But I'm batting 1000.
Doubt dampness is the cause. Does it here in Phoenix no matter what humidity

I just made an appointment to have the update done. How long did it take? I'm hoping no more than an hour.

I had brought it in for a different warranty issue, and the SSM finally dropped the same day I was out to get the truck back, told them if they can update then please do so, if anything it was quick for sure.
