Ditch Lights Installed

I just completed the installation of a pair of ditch lights on my ’24 hybrid XLT. Wiring goes to my under the hood control box for my interior switch panel.

I found one set just a coupl of dollars cheaper on Amazon. They would have placed the lights about six inches further toward the centerline of the hood. My thought was that would mean a lot of the light reflecting off the hood. I preferred the outboard position of the mount I bought. I’m giving these lights a try. If they don’t work out, I’ll step up to something else.

They're called "ditch lights". Is the goal truly to see what's on the side of the road (aka the ditch) or something else? When might one want/need this? For hunting? Looking for a dog that ran away? Not bad mouthing them. Just curious.

I can’t speak for others. I will turn the lights just a little outboard to assist in illuminating what is off to the side of the truck. Several occasions I can think of where they may assist: looking to identify a street address from mailboxes on a darkened street, identifying a turn-off or driveway in an unmarked rural setting, seeing the outline of my own circular driveway in the fall when a blanket of leaves cover the street, yard, and driveway. My lights will have infrequent use so they are on a separate switch-controlled circuit.

All of those are good reasons. Not enough for me to buy/install them. But now that you point all that out, I would definitely use them if I had them.

Do you happen to remember where you tapped power from? One of the jump points or?

Mine is a hybrid. Under the hood are two side-by-side terminal posts, each with a flip-back rubber cover (red and Black). I connected to the positive terminal under the black cover using a wing nut.

Thanks so much for the advice! Any idea if I can connect to power sources to that post? Like a light bar and pair of ditch lights or?
