Difference in soft roll-up tonneau covers (ebay vs amazon)

There are tons of "copy-paste" soft roll-up tonneaus on ebay and amazon. A lot of the listings are classic amazon, which is the same Chinese product sold under many seller names. Is there really a difference in quality? How about vs. Ebay sellers. I ask because i've bought products off ebay recently and it literally came delivered in an Amazon box from a Amazon truck!

My feeling is that they're all the same, just buy the cheapest, but wondering if someone else has insight.

I think they are all about the same with subtle differences. I ordered 2 of the same one off of Amazon about 2months apart. I have 2 Mavericks and my son liked the one I ordered so we got another one. Even from the same seller there were some small differences. The first one had rubber weather stripping under the rails and the second one had flat foam rubber under the rails. We are pleased with both. This is the one we ordered:

I went with the cheapest I could find that had the one handed cable latch at the tailgate, rather than the two plastic clamps on either side. They were asking $130, I offered $120, and they countered with $127 which I accepted. Ordered on 12/18/23. But I just looked at their listing today and they are asking $216.65 now. In my opinion, the cheapest one you can find is just fine.

I'm picking my truck up in a couple days, so I'm asking the same question. I saw others on here were happy with this one (MaxMate) so that's what I was thinking of going with. It may be the same as the TipTop above. I would like to avoid one with plastic hardware though.

There isn’t much difference in the lower price ranges. I purchased a Max Mate soft roll up on Amazon for $159 for an old Ford Ranger and was very satisfied. If you look closely at the photos and descriptions you can tell that many of them marketed under different brand names are the same item. I also purchased a hard tri fold for a Maverick for $350 on eBay and I’m happy with that. The exact same item by the same seller sells for $419.00 on Amazon. My experience with these is you can find better deals on eBay. If you are in these price ranges I would just go for the best buy.

I ordered the MaxMate about 10 days ago. Supposed to be delivered yesterday. Never made it. Company said they would reorder. I cancelled. I just did order the TipTop 'cause of the recommendation from GS535. Thanks.

I bought cheapest soft roll up from eBay in June for $140. Had single pull center release. Easy install. Adjustable for tension with a small supplied Allen wrench. Has been dry and trouble free since day one, even through Oregon rainy winter, though have not had any snow here. Some wind flex at highway speed but tension adjust can minimize that.

So I picked up the cheapest one on eBay for around $145 delivered. There were some east coast sellers that were a bit cheaper, but this one was in SoCal, so faster delivery time.

Overall, I was impressed. The box was sturdy and well taped with reinforcement straps. Everything inside was wrapped so it wouldn’t rub. The mourning clips were also painted black to match. Vinyl appears high quality.

One nitpick is this weird white stain in the top. I mentioned it to the seller, so we'll see what happens. Honestly it's not that big of a deal. Overall I would recommend it.

One more question; the front corners have these metal tabs that extend out; I assume its for spacing. If I put them flat into the corners, it seems like this makes the front weatherstripping have the best seal, but the tailgate side not so much. I guess we'll see.

Also, I notice that I can't really close the top with the tailgate up, is this normal?

I just installed the truxedo truxport. Took me about 30 mins. And from the looks of the others u guys have mentioned I should have bought one of those. Can’t see any difference between the one I bought and the ones you guys posted pics of. Minus the locking mechanism on the tailgate side, it seems all the same.
