I have a new Lariat Hybrid and when I put it into drive or reverse there is a delay for it to actually engage in gear, sometimes a few seconds.

Is anybody else experiencing this or do I have a problem?

I haven't noticed a delay with my hybrid Lariat. I will pay more attention the next time I drive.

I have the Hybrid XL. It does have a bit of a pause when I shift into reverse, and sometimes an unsettling clunk when it engages. Everything seems to work fine but I wish it was a little smoother...

my 2.0 has a bit of lag into R as well. i'm used to vehicles going immediately into gear.

Me: 24 hybrid Lariat, odo = 1,900 miles, 44mpg on current tank of gas = no delay going from D to R. Are you at a full stop when you change from D to R? Full stop before shift from D to R and vice versa is best practice for any transmission.

Sometimes I feel a blink of a delay for the hill hold to disengage when in D after a stop on an incline.

Yea it takes a second. Foot on brake, change gear, pause, good to go. Safe thing to do anyways as it's easier on the moving parts that come in contact with each other.
