There is a website out there that people report if dealership mark up a vehicle. It's very limited, unless you pay, but you can get an idea.

Working out an waiting on my Last Mav I ordered 7 bought for myself family and friends here in Texas. Not Once Has the dealer I buy from charged a penny over MSRP. So Far The PO and Order Code have been honored on POs well over a year old. Find a Dealer you trust and stick with Them. We are Tapped out on Mavs. I been sending the folks that want F150s to them. The local deal has sent me emails and asked me to refer folks to them. Not Happening they should not have tried the BS. " Yes We can order it but we have to add security systems onto it and Tint the Windows all that and a few other things these add up. Then The Coup De-gras "Go ahead go to Dallas nobody is going to order that truck for you at MSRP." They lost 8 sales over that.

I maintain the MTC dealer recommendations and warnings spreadsheet. I also monitor the List of Honest Dealerships discussion for new additions. I get to see many stories, and here is what I have seen.

Dealers fall into several categories:
  • The best dealers are willing to take your order, sell you the truck at MSRP, know how to handle private offers, and don't hassle you during the financing/finalization step. Find one, order what you want, and be happy with your decision and purchase.
  • Next on the list are the dealers that are upfront about the price they will sell you a Maverick. An excellent example is Long McArthur Ford in Salina, Kansas (@fordvideoguy). My son canceled his 2024 XL Hybrid Maverick with a local dealership (we received our $500 deposit back from them) and purchased a 2023 XLT Maverick Hybrid that one of Long McArthur's customers didn't take. We received a good deal and enjoyed a fun father-and-son trip home (1497 miles and 21.5 hours of driving time).
  • It goes downhill from here. 1) Dealers that are upfront with the added-dealer markup (ADM) for your retail order. We purchased 2 Mavericks and 1 PHEV Escape from a local dealer (southern California) at MSRP. A new GM now requires a $1400 ADM on every *Retail* sale. I have seen addendum stickers that increased this to a $2400 ADM. 2) Dealers that want you to provide the COV information so they can place the Retail order, surprise you with ADMs when you come in to purchase, don't honor private offers, and get you to abandon your order so they can mark it up to sell to someone else. 3) Dealers that use employees and pay people to place Retail orders so they can sell them on the lot for a substantial ADM. Ford threatened to adjust allocations to punish dealerships that don't sell enough Retail orders to the person/company that ordered it. Yet, I don't think they followed through with the threat.
Dealers are not the only folks playing games. The speculators and those hedging their orders create an equal amount of headaches for dealers. They also take allocations away from people who want to buy their Retail ordered Maverick.

In general, you should pay MSRP for a new EB. Most dealers are close to $1500 ADM on new Hybrids (with the possibility of negotiating it down). Your experience might vary.

My dealer called today; it has arrived. I called my credit union and got my rate. Guess I'll be picking it up sometime soon. Aren't the mirror caps supposed to be body-colored on the XLT luxury pkg?

That's pretty boss. I'd trade any day. Although, it would be a Costanza move to order build you hate, haha. So unless that's the case looks like your hitchhiking to Kentucky....in the wind and snow. Time to get that old thumb out, stat!

Costanza and I are basically the same person! Other than the "shrinkage" episode lol.

Not hitchhiking; I am trading my Ranger in. Having bought 3 cars from the KY dealer, he gave me a decent trade-in value sight unseen.

Planned mods. 6.5 lariat cluster, temp control w/numbers, and window tint. 👌

Your just a habitual long distance vehicle buyer! George would approve if it saves a buck. Heck, some people drive that far for potato chips and pizza. A New York slice or Philly Cheesesteak come to mind. Drivin' for a Maverick 'aint no thing. This is 'Merica!

I'm thinking road trip. Like a mix of Cannonball Run and Diner's Drive-in's and Dives. Keep us posted, Smokey.

I'm surprised how much flack I'm getting here. The dealer in KY has been the only dealer that will only charge me MSRP, and not MSRP + several thousand dollars. So, because I didnt want to pay thousands more, we buy from him. Around my area, it has been difficult to find a dealer that will not overcharge.
Not sure where you live in NC but I ordered from Burns Ford in York SC 45 min from Charlotte and paid MSRP minus my private offer from Ford.

My ordered Maverick is just about ready for pickup but seeing how its a 12hr round trip drive I'm searching locally for a deal.

What I'm hearing from dealers is that its still Covid times. A person is LUCKY to get MSRP and I should EXPECT to pay above that for both new and used. They're also telling me from a salesperson's point of view there is no room for price negotiation as they make next to nothing when a Maverick is sold. We're talking around $300, if that, on a sale.

Is this just dealer talk, or do you all find this to be the case?
Dealer talk, the dealerships would not be in Business if they didn't make money. Covid was almost 5 years ago, they need to come up with a more current excuse.

If that is the case you may have just justified the long drive

Here in the San Diego CA market dealers are marking up hybrids $8500.

My story: My hybrid Lariat order rolled over from the time I initally ordered it and arrived in Oct 2024 as a MY 24. My dealer promised msrp which they honored, no BS add-ons but when it came time to apply my price protection for the roll-over, they tried to gyp me out of $600. Who doesn't like getting 44+mpg consistently?

Ultimately they relented and I paid msrp minus the Ford price protection. They would have been only too happy if I had walked. The '24 replaced my 2022 EB Lariat I bought off a lot in 10/2022 for $1800 above msrp.

I sold my Oxford white 22EB Lariat w/ 8,800miles [sunroof but no Lariat Lux Pkg] for $32,875 privately. Took about 13 days but it was just after Thanksgiving 2023 = a couple of months ago which is not a great time to sell a vehicle.
