Does anyone know how much it would cost for my ford dealer to change out the backup camera on my brand new 2024 Maverick to something that works, like the one on the 2025?

Before this recall came out I put a new camera in and it did nothing to fix the problem. Not too sure about this but I think it's a software issue. The 2025 model is a completely different system.

As the old saying goes...
They are two totally different animals.

You will have to wait and see what Ford's Fix Is.. 🥴

Do anyone know if an aftermarket camera and display would meet the government requirement?
Not the first choice obviously

I wonder if some of the people waiting would accept the camera being disabled temporarily while Ford figures it out? Maybe in the US the screen could show a legal warning written by a team of lawyers and in Canada it can show “Sorry, eh!” At least they could be enjoying having their trucks. It could be sold as a retro feature and not a bug!

Nope
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Requires that ALL vehicles under 10,000 pounds manufactured or sold in the United States have an operational backup camera.
Think of the camera as you would, non-operating headlights, wipers, turn signals, brake lights, seat belts
.

That would be fine if you owned the truck. Forget about money changing hands.
The hiccup is that it is Not your truck, until Ford processes the paperwork and Title. Which moves the truck from Fords ownership to the finance company or you.
With a government mandated hold that cannot and will not happen.

So I take it that this issue still isn’t resolved. Wow.

My 2024 Maverick XLT Hybrid FWD was produced in Jan 2024, and I purchased it 2/21/2024, new from the dealer with 21 miles showing on the odometer.
The truck now has 13,300 miles; all required service has been done by the dealership.
I've never had any problems with the backup camera, but have recently received the recall notice advising me that they will contact me when a fix is available.

They cannot legally sell new vehicles that have any outstanding recalls - Period.

Makes you wonder if is due to some chip sets that are not fast enough or flawed in some way but Ford wants to fix it with software?
