Sitting at a coffee shop and hear the honking of a car alarm. Realize it's my Maverick. Tried hitting buttons on the keyfob...do dice.

Here's where it gets weird (at least to me).

I head outside and notice a new Bronco parked behind me, also with the alarm raging. The Bronco's owner was there. The only way we could stop our respective alarms was to put the key in the ignition and turn it (he may have pushed an ignition start button, not sure).

It seemed awfully coincidental that both vehicle alarms went off simultaneously, and that both required intervention beyond the key fob to stop it.

BTW, this was in front of the windows at a busy coffee shop with people sitting outside and people walking around. It's unlikely that someone messed with both trucks.

I'm sure there's a simple explanation (or maybe a weird coincedence). I have a theory or two, but wondering if anyone here knows what it could be? Or if someone else has had a similar experience?

Could there been some sort of vibration that set them off?

That makes sense.

Only weird thing is that several other new non-Fords nearby were unaffected.

But maybe the vibration was fairly localized...like loud music base or something.

That is odd. I set mine off from time to time when my keys are in my pocket and I crouch down. The way I turn in off is to hold the panic/alarm button on the fob. Haven’t had to insert into ignition.

Maybe I didn't hold the panic button down long enough to turn it off.

In my older Fusion I just had to hit the button once to turn it off. I'll have to test that.
