Connecting Sync 4 to internet to check for update

To connect sync 4 to the internet, do i have to connect it to wifi or can I use my phone hotspot for update?

I cannot confirm this first-hand, but I see no reason why you could not connect the truck wifi to the ad hoc wifi network your phone will create as a hotspot.

You can connect your vehicle to either your phones hotspot or another wifi network but don't expect it to download any updates this way.

I'm not 100% sure but most of the time Sync4 equipped vehicles primarily use the 4g lte connection provided by AT&T's network to download any updates that are available.

My 2026 has a 5G modem. Seems my updates happen at night on my wifi.

Personally I wouldn’t want to try any other way.
I’m pretty sure my truck checks in when it detects the wifi.

I'm pretty sure the hotspot idea won't work as they pull down the updates with bandwidth limiting (long, slow download) and I believe they occur overnight.
