Factory cruise control enabled on XL with Forscan and Escape steering wheel

I am not so sure about this. A non-sensical number, maybe. But a valid number with a correct checksum that is contextually wrong might not throw errors?

It should throw DTC codes if it is. The only DTC code I got is it that it took too long to talk to the ABS module. Once I reset the DTC after the first time it did it I haven't seen it happen since.

You might be on to something.

I don't know for sure but if you want cross reference that to make sure it is the same for both an 2.5L hybrid and 2.0L ecoboost engine. The hybrid since it uses the brakes to charge the battery might manage the brakes differently than a gas only engine in cruise control mode..

Here is the adaptive cruise control screen on the XL 4.2 inch cluster working. All features for regular cruise control work correctly in the screen. The adaptive features are not available but could be turned on easily though they won't work without the sensors being installed. Tomorrow I'll put it back on and make a note of the change in code and post the exact setting.

Did it make sense that this ACC menu/ graphics does not look quite like the actual Lariat menu?

They use different displays, the Lariat comes with the larger 6 inch screen as a standard feature. The XL and XLT trims come standard with the 4.2 inch cluster screen.

End result it doesn't bring anything extra functionality wise to the table with standard cruise control unless you like having that screen as a visual aid while driving.

Here's what I mean -- the graphics are different for the 'follow level'. I don't see why it would be different if it has to pull from the factory software for Lariat Lux. Just wanna make sure it's pulling the right code or something (I'm clueless about this whole process, just an observation).

Next features I plan to work on since it shouldn't take much to get them working if one key parameter is determined, 1 driver alert system and 2 lane assist.

Both these packages are part of the extra Ford Copilot 360 package and to make them work first the front facing camera which is on my windshield needs to be turned on. If it can then those work off that camera.

So workflow is as follows.

1. Get the front facing camera working.

If that works then

2. First enable driver alert system and get it working to confirm the camera is on and active.

3a. Try to then enable lane assist without changing the direction switch on the steering column since according to the owner's manual you can force it on using mykey. That requires programming 1 of the 2 keys then getting it all working.

3b. If 3a works without the correct switch and even if it doesn't get the correct left hand direction switch and get switch working alongside lane assist in the cluster. The switch replacement is straight foward, 2 torx screws and a wire connector and the switch assembly comes out just need to remove both the upper and lower steering column covers to get to both screws. The switch needed from my limited research looks to only be used on a Ford Maverick but I haven't found the exact part number for it yet. Either way it looks to be a $30ish part.

Think of it as a key that works on more than one lock, it performs the same function on both regardless of how the rest of lock i.e. factory software is designed.

Yes I know I probably overpaid for the steering wheel but I had a limited time frame to do the work lol

I had an early delivery and receive my truck in late October.

I was able to use forscan codes on page 1

I did not need to edit the values for the IPC as my factory codes were same as the suggested codes on page 1

I paid for forscan 1y $10

If anyone knows how to identify if a replacement steering wheel has the heated option, please reach out. I would love to know.

Make sure to change in the ABS module to know that you are using cruise control to this

I drove about 100 or so miles yesterday and my fuel economy dropped significantly with the cruise control on and that code still set to not available for cruise control. That setting tells the ABS system cruise control is activated.

I enabled it last night and drove another 50 today with the cruise control on fuel economy and responsiveness was back. Most noticeable on inclines, it wasn't riding the brakes anywhere near as much.
