You do need it as it turns out.
I'll leave well enough alone then!
I also found the BCM option in the not as built modules. It is labeled as cruise control. When I changed it to disabled it reverted the as built hex code. When I turned it back on the hex code in the as built section changed to the one listed in the OP write up.
I saw that option, and wondered if it would do the same thing, but this was my first go with Forscan, so I didn't go there.
You can also set the switches for SCCM the same way. The left switch is option 11 and right switch is option 1 if you don't want to type in the hex codes.
That is good to know.

One thing I wonder - if one uses the options you found, it is reliant on the correct data being built into Forscan. For example, the "translation" of a menu choice to an address and the hex code that should be written to that address, and a correct understanding of the ramifications of that change.

So, for me, I think I will do any changes the manual way, so that I know for sure what is being done in the background.

The hex code based upon what I observed at 724-02-01 looks like it is generated based upon the combo of switches. I disabled the LH switch and left the RH as is and the hex code changed at 724-02-01 and when I set it back the option 11 the hex code reverted to the OP hex code in the write up. With that said just because there is a valid hex code for a particular LH / RH switch combo doesn't necessarily mean they will work correctly. That would need more testing if someone wants to check what the original switch numbers are listed as then adjust by only adding a single switch.

Couple of important things. I drove a couple 100 miles today with the cruise control since I had to take a trip to go look at some equipment. I noticed my gas mileage dropped quite a bit. After looking through the settings I found settings for cruise control in the ABS module. I suspect it was over braking in cruise control when it shouldn't have been if the ABS was configured correctly for cruise control.

My factory setting was set to not available, there are 3 options not available, cruise control and adaptive cruise control.

The default on the XL with 2.0L ecoboost and should be the same for the hybrid is the following
ABS
760-03-02 0100 0000 0572

The change to enable cruise control in the ABS system is
ABS
760-03-02 0200 0000 0573

I will test tomorrow and see if the fuel economy improves.

The second code should be correct for the instrument cluster. This one didn't throw any checksum errors or turn on any screens or settings that weren't relevant to the existing settings.
IPC
720-02-02 2008 A2F5

So in total 4 codes are needed get cruise control working after swapping the wheel or replacing the switches on the existing wheel.

SCCM
724-02-01 1258 6820 3050
This enables the switches part#'s SW8576 and SW8579

IPC
720-02-02 2008 A2F5
This sets the instrument cluster to enable for cruise control

ABS
760-03-02 0200 0000 0573
Assumes it sets the ABS to use the correct braking settings for cruise control when active

BCM
726-04-05 CB28 8140 8872
This one best I can tell is main on and off to activate cruise control. I did test to confirm the cruise control set option will not come up on the instrument cluster if this is not changed regardless of the other 3 settings.

I also had the adaptive cruise control screen active on the cluster. It works correctly with the regular cruise control sans the adaptive options. I post tomorrow when I get the laptop hooked back up the exact changes to enable it in the cluster.

Here is the adaptive cruise control screen on the XL 4.2 inch cluster working. All features for regular cruise control work correctly in the screen. The adaptive features are not available but could be turned on easily though they won't work without the sensors being installed. Tomorrow I'll put it back on and make a note of the change in code and post the exact setting.

I got it working putting in new switches only, pictures to follow tomorrow if I have time since it is too dark out and the flash obscures the cluster. All the buttons work correctly and I also tested to see if I could activate engineering test mode on the cluster which worked successfully.

Specs on the truck is an XL with AWD, 2.0L ecoboost and 4K tow package.

I wasn't able to get an torque reading on the nut when it was on originally but did torque it to 35 ft lbs. That felt tighter than how it was tightened originally so that should be sufficient pending someone getting a Haynes or shop manual and referencing it there.

For the IPC codes

720-01-02 0227 4093

720-02-01 09E4 2D34 1E96

They have nothing far as I can tell to do with the cruise control and are to enable lane assist in the cluster. If you don't have the turn control switch with it on it or a camera in the windshield it won't work anyways. The cruise control worked fine including the instrument cluster leaving those code lines as built for my truck.

If I have time tomorrow I'll check if the BCM code also needed to be changed or not to make cruise control work. The only code I am confident that did need to be changed was the SCCM Steering Wheel Control Module to correctly activate the switches.

For those IPC codes I can say for sure now that

720-02-01 09E4 2D34 1E96
This one is to enable lane assist. Lane assist won't work without the correct turn switch with lane assist button which is not on the XL and a front windshield camera which may or may not already be installed.

This one threw the checksum error
720-01-02 0227 4093

It should be pending double checking the setting.
720-01-02 0027 4093

That should enable the adaptive cruise control screen on the cluster working only in regular cruise control mode. If enabled the set icon for cruise control will also be different. See the owner's manual for icons and features.

It would be good to know what this setting is as-built from an XLT with cruise control.

You should be able to pull down as built options for an XLT using a valid vin and creating a new vehicle profile. What I do know is if they weren't valid settings I should have gotten some sort of checksum error or invalid parameter error.

After double checking

720-01-02 0027 4093
This enables driver alert in the menu options under driver assistance. it won't work though without a front camera above the mirror and the camera has to be active.

My vehicle looks to have the camera but is not turned on. Once I can get it turned on driver alert should work correctly.

The default setting on mine which disables the driver alert in the cluster options is
720-01-01 0027 4091

Here are some valid codes and what they do.

To turn on the adaptive cruise control screen with only standard cruise control options as seen in the screenshot
IPC
720-01-01 450A 3204 6210

To enable the adaptive cruise control option
IPC
720-01-01 470A 3204 6212
In the menu options you'll have a choice between normal and adaptive. If you choose adaptive it will grey out the adaptive option and change the set icon to the normal cruise control icon but function the same as changed to the first IPC code.

I am not so sure about this. A non-sensical number, maybe. But a valid number with a correct checksum that is contextually wrong might not throw errors?

The ABS setting is the same hex code on similar Ford vehicles that also have cruise control.
