Hi Everyone! I own a 2022 Maverick with 2500 miles on it and it is at the service department at my local Ford dealer for a second time. The issue is a loud clicking noise (unlike the normal.clicking you hear from the vehicle) when starting the vehicle first thing in the morning when the temperature is cold. When you put it in reverse, the noise stops and doesn't happen again for another 10-15 cold starts. When it does occur, the engine has a very bad vibrating shake to it. After looking at videos of various makes of vehicles, the sou d is very close to a bad timing chain. Does anyone else have any thoughts on this

Thanks very much, Ron for the info! I don't feel crazy now. Now, if only I can get the service people to listen!

Just reference the linked TSB 22-2124 and they should be able to help you.

There's 2 different surging issues. The early one had a sulfur smell, red catalytic with the rough idle. TSB 22-2124 which fixed it.

But now there's another idle issue. The ticking sound is mostlikely dampers on flywheel, but not sure what is causing it and it will go away once you put it in gear. You may get a missfire on your Ford Pass App. Here's one of many posts:

What you describe sounds like a GM 2.4L just before the timing chain goes belly up! Sorry.
