It'd be great to have a conversation without politics creeping in.it fits the forums leaning views.
Wouldn't it, though? It'd be great to have a conversation without politics creeping in.
I'll have to read through again, but I didn't see any politics. I did see people like myself referencing the flag code and pointing out that displaying a damaged flag is disrespectful; even though the person doing it likely loves Merkuh and the flag (they just don't know you shouldn't do this). Is it too political that I respect the flag and want it treated as it should be?Wouldn't it, though?
That was not directed at you. Lurking over this forum told me a lot. Easy assumptions. Pretty shameful though.I'll have to read through again, but I didn't see any politics. It wasn't that blatant; just a reference to this forum leaning in a direction.I'll have to read through again, but I didn't see any politics. I’m not seeing your quote on the US Flag code. Military does have the the stars forward, but not civilians.Looks great so I hate to nitpick -
but the US Flag Code states that
“Patches or decals should depict the flag as if it’s flying (union forward).”
So the stars should be on the wind deflector side of hood with the flag unfurling towards you as you drive.
That method of displaying is in the military only. Try to find it in the actual Flag Code. I think it looks great.Nope. The Union (the stars) are supposed to depict the flag "Charging forward" NOT retreating as it is on your hood.
My original post said it looks great too! My nitpick was just a civilian nitpick. I always feel a pang of guilt when asked “are you Military or a Veteran” when folks are looking to give me a discount or favor. I answer “No - but I’m old”. I turned 18 in ‘74 after the Peace Accords were signed. That method of displaying is in the military only. Try to find it in the actual Flag Code. I think it looks great.

My thing was that it does not say what you quoted in the actual Flag code that I attached in the link. You quoted something in a military guideMy original post said it looks great too! Anyway, the Flags displayed on the left side of Military craft still look backwards to me for a second before my brain registers![]()

Many Americans and Veterans in particular take the flag etiquette quite seriously, and departments and other organizations offer advice on the display of flags on what might run afoul of common interpretations such as colored line flags, and often publish guidance to let people know what displays might be considered or interpreted as disrespectful, unpatriotic, or anti-patriotic.The words “flag, standard, colors, or ensign”, as used herein, shall include any flag, standard, colors, ensign, or any picture or representation of either, or of any part or parts of either, made of any substance or represented on any substance, of any size evidently purporting to be either of said flag, standard, colors, or ensign of the United States of America or a picture or a representation of either, upon which shall be shown the colors, the stars and the stripes, in any number of either thereof, or of any part or parts of either, by which the average person seeing the same without deliberation may believe the same to represent the flag, colors, standard, or ensign of the United States of America.
As others have pointed out it is not an American flag so you don't have to worry about how it is displayed. You can display that flag however you wish.Hey Chops,
Not that you are nitpicking but let me help you resolve your mental anguish regarding the flag decal's orientation:
My Maverick spends more time Parked than it does flying down the road.
(such is the case with most vehicles in a 24 hr cycle)
While parked, the hood slopes down from the windshield to the front bumper. This would mean the correct orientation of the flag would be with the stars on the high side. If the stars were lower than that the flag would be upside down, indicating a state of distress and a call for aid.
So Nope. It is displayed correctly. But thank you for admonishing me with your well intended wisdom, my friend.
Can we both agree that the display of an American flag on an American’s pickup is a show of patriotism? I support the same for a Canadian flag on a Canadian’s hood or a Mexican flag on a Mexican’s hood. Please post a picture of how your flag is displayed on the hood of your vehicle. I will not nitpick.
