Changing tire sizes and keeping the computer from freaking out

ordered me an XL hybrid, im pretty pumped! Gonna save the stealies for winter time and would love to put some small ass wheels and tires on it for fair weather cruising. Like as small as i cam go (im mexican)

During my search here i noticed that the tremor boys would reprogram something so they could run big 33s without the speedo and abs systems cussing at them. Im assuming ill need to do the same to run some 15s with lo profile tires.

do i need to buy a special tool to tell the computer it has different sized tires? Can the dealer tell the computer i got different tires?

Any insight would be appreciated

cant fit anything smaller than 17s due to brakes. good luck trying to fit 15s.

I think the speedo will be off is all.
You can use Forscan to change tire size. I have no idea if the size you are wanting is available to change to. I'm sure there are limits.
I'm thinking some nice chrome wire wheels would be good. Maybe some hydraulics too!

From what I've read tire size has to be selected in PCM/BCM and the modules pickup tire size there for speedo, braking, torque, +(?). Setting is possible up to 2270mm circumference. Something to due with Ford's software limitations for modules affected.

Just a note here on the Maverick tire sizes. The circumference on a 235-65-17 on my Tremor is 2316 MM so maybe there is more adjustment in the modules that can be adjusted with the proper knowledge. Each model might have it's set limitations. ?

Different model limitations is very much likely. Would have to compare each model OEM specs. I am sure the modules will differ between ones that have the drive modes eliminated vs the ones that don't. Most likely not because the equipment won't operate but maybe due to capacity of software or computer CPU capacity. I know on my hybrid lariat that I can push the mode selector button much faster than on my XLT lux. If I push my xlt mode select button as fast as I do my lariat it will not count all of the pushes. Probably due to different clock rate of slower chip. Maybe a lariat processor will handle some of the additional drive modes better than the lux. Ford only knows even if different processors are in different models. We could only speculate.

Finding part numbers on the modules would be the key.

Is there an aftermarket scanner that communicates with the PCM effectively???

I could probably find a mechanic with a current snap on scanner.
