I have used this product in the past on other vehicles with great success and I plan to use it on my Maverick as well. It is the Cerakote Plastic Ceramic Trim Coating. It is for use only on Plastic Parts for protection and restoration. I have seen this product bring faded plastic trim back to life. Its longevity is impressive too with people claiming the coat can last years! It's easy to apply yourself too! I am going to apply it to my Mavericks lower bumper pieces, unpainted door handles, plastic tailgate pieces, air design spoiler, fender flares, etc. I think it might be a worthy investment with all of the exposed plastic on the Maverick! I see jeep owners use this product a lot!

I have used it and yes, it really helps keep the plastic trim looking new and it seems to protect it from the sun.

Thanks for your reply @CurtisB . I will be applying it on the next sunny day! How long do you wait to do it again? a few years?

I applied it again when I started to see water spots, mud or road stuff not wash off, which was about every 6 months.

I used CeraKote for Trim on all the exterior black plastic bits, including the grill. One kit was enough to do all the plastic. It has held up fine for the 6 months I've had my truck, although I keep my truck garaged, which probably helps. It really keeps bugs from sticking to the front of the truck!

I also used CeraKote paint sealant on all exterior painted surfaces (except the inside of the bed). 6 months later, water is still beading up quite nicely. I usually only need to wash it at the manual spray car wash on Rinse setting. Dirt comes right off. Much better than old-school car wax.

I applied the trim coat last spring , am going to reapply again shortly, has held up well over the year considering our cold, damp and wet climate here in NL. I would recommend this product for keeping your black plastic trim looking like new.

Thanks for posting this. I've had my '23 Lariat since January '24 and I've been wondering about this type of product. You Gents have pretty much convinced me that this is for me too. Are there any things to look out for when applying the trim or paint coats? I know the truck needs to be clean and bug/sap guts removed; anything else to look for?

Thank you (and the Maverick Truck Club for having these posts),

Mike

@RJC, @Ozarkbeard how long did you have your Maverick before using the trim coat?

Cerakote now puts a notice inside the package that warns the product is not for *new* trim. Curious as to why, I called to ask and they told me some new plastic trim materials have conditioners which may react with the product and create white splotching. It sounded like it would be near impossible to remove as well.

I'm assuming if you had any issues your posts above would read differently but it never hurts to double check right? - any problems?

Aside - wonderful experience on the phone with them. I've used their products before and been very happy but it's always great to stumble upon companies that shine in more ways than one.

I had my truck less than a month before I applied the trim coat. Beforehand, I scrubbed the trim with a brush, using a bucket of water mixed with very strong dish soap. Then rinsed very very thoroughly and let it dry for 24 hours.

So far, no issues at all except a couple of spots on the rear bumper I missed. I will make sure that gets covered well on the next application.

It is not designed for use on new trim.
