Thanks to the complex shape of the center console bin, this was a more complicated project to get right than I initially expected. Can't wait to hear from those of you who purchase the STLs what you think. Please share photos of your printed trays in action! Also, please pass that link along to other Maverick owners who would find this useful!
I got mine printing, but just some feedback from slicing: You might want to cut the front and rear flat and parallel to their inner angle. Especially the rear if that's the surface intended to be printed against the build plate. Also maybe extend the side support ribs fully to the rear edge. As it is they need to be supported a few millimeters, but that's a minor quibble.

Thanks for the feedback! I chose to keep the outside front and rear faces curved to better fit the profile of the storage bin, but I’d be open to uploading an alternative design for the customer’s choice. You don’t see the front or back when the tray is in the console so I thought how they appeared when printed was less of a concern. In a revised, flat design it would be easy to extend what I refer to as the support wings all the way to the back rather than being rounded off a mm or two shy. I’ll play around with my design files and see what makes sense, and I’ll keep you posted.

Mine came out solidly serviceable if a little ugly. The forward inside edge was a bit of a stringy mess I had to "iron" together with a heat gun and metal scraper, but I don't have my setup particularly tuned for doing big overhangs in PETG. Some of that was I was a few degrees off from having the rear inside parallel to the build plate as I'd suggested. That consequently would have made the overhang 3-4 degrees more favorable. I also had the layer heights pretty aggressive at .34mm. It kept the print time to a brisk 7.5 hrs, but switching to thinner layers for the overhang might have helped.

Edit: Woops, looks like I had Cura printing outer walls first which also made things harder.

Glad to hear you have something that will work for you. Of course you can always tune and reprint. I would be careful pushing layer height beyond 80% of your nozzle diameter in general. Prusa recommends that as max layer height, so that’s 0.32 on a 0.4-mm nozzle. I think there are physical/mechanical reasons for this recommendation but I’m not the engineer among my friends. The tray pictured in the listing was printed with 0.28-mm layers and took the better part of 13 hours to complete. I know most slicers offer a variable layer height function but yeah I had success printing up to 0.32 in test printing various portions of the tray and figured anyone who knew enough to swap to a larger nozzle, such as 0.6-mm, would also know enough to think to orient the tray so there’s no more than one overhang per layer near the top.

Seems like a good possibility but
The file isn’t the cost in this!!
I understand why the creator didn’t post this part of the challenge… if he had no one would buy his design.
$10 from Etsy is a deal…. Then contact Sculpteo ……
$233 for one tray.!
Ahh yeah nice going
Maybe beware $10 won’t get you much?

Hey, the creator here…

So when I listed those print service recommendations I went off of reputation. As I started getting a few requests, I priced them out and realized how absurdly expensive they were. Unfortunately there’s nothing I can do about their pricing - they seem to be going after the rapid prototyping, manufacturing market rather than the layman who found something on Thingiverse and wants it without having to buy their own printer. I’ve even checked local libraries who have print services near some folks and they don’t charge much less than Sculpteo or Shapeways.

It ends up being best if you own or have access to a printer locally at a friend/family member’s house. If someone on this forum has a printer and is willing to print trays made to order, I’d be happy to work out an arrangement with them. The problem is it’s around $6-7 of material cost (~600 g of PETG), another $10 in shipping, and by the time I make my cut for the design work and the printer makes theirs, it gets a big pricey for a simple little tray. Each one takes 10-20 hours to print depending on your settings, so it’s not as easy to churn them out as if they were little widgets that took 2-3 hours a piece. That’s why I haven’t offered this as an option so far.

If anyone has any suggestions I would be happy to discuss.

I have your designs being printed locally in matte black PETG for $39.10 for the set. I will report back in a few days to report the results.

Update: My local print service has quoted right about $35 per set if I ordered between 5-10 sets; $27.36 or $26.95 for the Tray & $6.03 or $5.61 for the change insert, respectively. Of course this is without any shipping.

I had a weird feeling this might be the case. I do have some good news if you’re able to be a little patient - I am partnering with an existing, reputable Etsy seller, JACLDesigns, who will be selling the printed trays for those who don’t have access to a printer. We have to work out some modifications to my design to make it more efficient for batch printing, but that IS coming down the pipeline! I’ll keep you posted.

What are the interior dimensions of the center console? I thought about buying one that is close and modifying as needed.

What do you think the target price should be? Do you think $35 per set is too much? I'm happy paying $39 (plus the $10 STL file fee) for something otherwise not available. Supply & Demand....

I am leaving it to JACLDesigns to set his own price, but the $10 file cost will NOT be a separate, required purchase to get a physical tray. I’m licensing my design to him for production so there will be no need to buy my STL files too. He has to consider time, materials, and shipping costs so as soon as he settles on a price I will let you and everyone else know. There will be a link to it on my Etsy listing as soon as his is live.

Getting it done at a local shop in Bristol, CT (bassettdesigns.net). Yea, it's pricey but considering a 3D printed FITS trash bag holder ring costs $25 on Etsy it seems fair enough for me.
