CD's on/to Thumb Drives

This thread is becoming very typical of any tech question. The OP asks what appears to be a very simple, not exactly high tech, question. And so it begins with answers which to "normal" people are more and more complex. OP asks for a drink of water, and someone opens up the fire hydrant.

You got that right. It just makes your head spin. Ask the question, "What color is that truck?" and you get answers ranging from a color, then morphing on and on to how a truck is built, etc. Drives me crazy. Just answer the question.

I ripped all my CDs to MP3 many years ago using free software I found online. I'm sure such software still exists today. My cell phone has enough memory now to store all the music I need for when I'm driving through an area with no cell service or fishing 50 miles offshore. My entire CD collection would fit on it easily.

I had music from my Ipod on my computer and dragged it to a thumb drive. 263 songs in all works great for me.
