Casita Trailer Calculations

This is the information I was going to use to answer the questions posed above.

The key is to balance the trailer and not to overload the hitch.

I think, however, that the OP is on the right track and towing a Casita with a conservatively loaded Ecoboost AWD with the 4K Tow Package will work fine.

Yea I think that it'll workout. I'm only concerned about the hitch weight to be honest. It sounds like I'll be around 25-35lbs over the max hitch weight. Not sure how bad that is for the vehicle.... Might have to look at the Scamp 13

After tons of research, sounds like it's best to have the hitch/tongue weight at around 15%.
Calculating that out, the Casita is exactly 15% of it's weight for the hitch/tongue. I think we're good! And with spare weight capacity, I don't think I'll have any issues.

Haven't towed with the Maverick yet, still working on the first thousand miles. 2024 Colorado tows the Casita effortlessly, want to compare towing MPG between Maverick 2.0 and Colorado 2.7.

I just read for other purposes:

In State of California; pickups stop being pickups and are legally required to enter state weigh stations when above 8000 lbs unladen or any combination of truck & trailer over 12,000 lbs.

So there are some advantages to leaving the 2500 at home.

Also any "pickup" with an enclosed box must weigh in. Campers excluded. And any pickup with a flat bed must weigh in.
