Yes they ordered but didn't stick it out....so who gets their dropped Maverick...another interloper. Who isn't on the order waiting list...why does everything in this forum need to become a contest?

If I’m reading this right the dealer they got it from scammed the system. My hunch is there was never a buyer. It was probably ordered as a retail buyer and switched to stock when the phantom buyer “backed out.”

“Lo and behold, no buyer ever materialized; one didn’t even exist, as it turned out. We’d later learn the dealer had ordered the truck for its own stock, so it was ours for the taking.”

So much for prioritizing customer orders.

That seems to be the rule on all forums and social media.

They paid over MSRP, but the dealer in question is definitely suspect for having a phantom stock order. Would be easy for Ford to trace since Cars.com is a big platform and easy to reach out to.
