The first cargo in my new Tremor. I hauled 800 pounds of play sand home a couple miles from the store. That poor lil Tremor felt very over loaded. I pull my fishing boat like its not there.

Is it just me or are these things rates VERY liberally?

Depends what color is your tremor? Is it Atlas blue or ruby red?

I've had 1000 pound pallet in the back several times and did not feel overloaded at all or excessive compression on the rear springs. When hauling weight make sure the tires are fully inflated 35+ PSI. Low air pressure in the tires can make a truck feel overloaded. Tow/haul mode makes a difference when loaded 1000 pounds plus in the bed. We use this Maverick as a company truck regularly (We got bed scratches & dents to prove it) and it hasn't disappointed yet. It's not an F350 flat bed but not priced like an F350 either. Big Truck = Big Jobs, Small Truck = Small Jobs All good here.

I too have moved 800-1,000 lb. loads of river rock several times with no obvious ill effect. Tires were set at the recommended pressure. Rear end did squat, but the truck felt solid and sure-footed, with plenty of torque.

Assuming you are average sized (around 200 lbs) you're looking at 1k of payload for a vehicle with less than 1200lb rated payload capacity. I would expect it to feel loaded down.

I made multiple 1,000 pound gravel runs over the last couple of weeks for a project at the house. Yes my truck did squat but honestly it held up well in my opinion. I thought the Tremor had a lower load capacity than FX4 or other variants.

I once made the mistake of putting 750 lbs of lime and fertilizer loaded way aft by the tailgate. I knew better, but it was only a slow 1 mile drive to the house and I didn't want to have to reach. It was a bit squirrely on the drive home, especially braking and curves. But I knew it was because of how I loaded the truck. I never read the manual, but I'll wager there's a section in there that says not to load it the way I did.

The Payload rating of the Tremor is 1,200 lbs. This includes Payload in the Bed + Passengers + anything else in the vehicle (but excludes fuel).

I've had 1,200 lbs in my Tremor many times without any issues whatsoever.

I put 1300 lbs in my hybrid sometimes.
Headlights will beam up quite a bit but I mostly do it in day time. Feels a bit soft and squishy. But totally fine. Just different. Of course you need more stopping distance. But not "overloaded". No.

Engine on a pallet. 1100 lbs.
Plus 200 lbs of equipment on the back seat at the time of photo.

Forgot to say. Since I do this with some regularity I did add $110 air lift helper air bags to the rear springs.

Did you buy bagged sand or get it from the pit? I asked for a half ton of decorative stone (for my Arizona “lawn”), but when I scaled out of the pit, I had 1750 lb. That was with my old Ram 1500.

Same thing with my F450 with a 14500 lb gvwr. It tares at 10000 lb, more or less, so I asked for 4500 lb, two and a quarter tons. I scaled out at 19000 lb, or 9000 lb of gravel instead of the 4500 lb I asked for.
