So just a little update for people if you happen to get in a crash of some sort get ready for the price. Got in a minor fender bender recently (pics above) nothing to bad. Took the car to ford to see how much repairs will cost…. Upwards of 5 grand for just the initial estament this does not include frame work or anything structural just what they can see without taking it apart!! luckily i’m not at fault so don’t have to pay but just giving heads up!

Tbh not thrilled with the quality of the back bumper got hit at ab 15mph and back bumper is completely snapped underneath. juts disappointing

Welcome to modern vehicles, minor fender benders typically are $5-10k.

Better to have a bent bumper than a busted back or neck. The bill medical bills for that can go far higher over the course of your life, just saying.

Just be thankful the truck did it's job-protecting you! My experiences with Ford vehicles in crashes have been impressive. Daughter-in-law was hit head on in a Ford Flex at 60 mph by drunk driver............she and the grandkids walked away with not even a scratch.

Glad you're ok and it's just some body damage.
Almost any modern vehicle will be thousands for a minor bump. I had a dented fender and scuffed door on my previous car and as soon as the adjuster glanced at it she said "Oh, that's a $4000 scratch" and she was right, within a few hundred dollars.

The cost to repair unibody vehicles is a contributing factor to the increasing cost of auto insurance. Your experience is exhibit "A" as what appears to be cosmetic can be structural as well. Hopefull a good shop will make it as good as new.

Welcome! and sorry about the rear-ender. Driver was probably distracted looking at some gd screen. You're lucky it wasn't totaled. There are tons of threads on here about similar minor crashes causing the trucks to be totaled.

Modern vehicles are designed to absorb the energy from a crash, instead of rigidly transferring it to the occupants. Better the truck take the hit than have lifelong back or neck issues from it.

And this is 1 reason why insurance is rising exponentially even to inflation.
Cost to repair an average vehicle compared to an 80’s or 90’s vehicle is 3-4 times as much for aproximately same amount of impact.
Complex crush zones and computers on wheels have created an expensive conundrum!
And we all buy into it .

I had something similar happen a while back, just a minor fender bender, but the repair costs were way higher than I expected. I remember being shocked when they said the bumper alone would cost a few grand to replace, and that didn’t even include any hidden damage.

It's definitely frustrating when you realize how much the repairs can add up for something that seems minor.
