Can bed lights stay off?

I have no need for the bed lights 99% of the time.

They come on automatically every time I exit the vehicle.

There is a push button switch for manual control by the headlamps. This setting is not retained.

Is there a way to keep the bed lights off full time then activate by push button those three times a year I want it?

Hard to believe nobody knows. I've wondered the same thing - save a little juice if the lights would stay off.-

Me too. I would really like being able to get into my truck at night without lighting up like a Christmas tree. Funny: I've searched the Owner's Manual from one end to the other and can find NO mention of this feature or a photo of the dashboard switch. The terms cargo, puddle, kerb, and high mount return no usable hits either. I think Ford's tech writers have a lot of trouble communicating with engineering.

same for the damn keypad. Stays on as long as any door is open.
Drives me crazy.
