First,i am NO wiring expert.but on the run start switch deal, shouldn’t there be a wire, maybe two that would control this feature?if so,why couldnt i locate these wires and bypass this switch and be done with it without affecting anything else.remember,im no wiring expert and i know about the wire on battery disconnect, trailer light wire, and the run stop eliminator.just shouldn’t be so hard to get rid of this.

I cannot confirm, but many times there is a blackout period after a vehicle starts where it is not looking for or responding to input from certain sources/switches. Or it clears out any old responses/codes from when the vehicle was switched off the prior time. This could impact how simple or complicated it would be to simply wire the switch together so it is always sending a signal for instance. Perhaps a constant signal is not what the control unit is looking for, and it might even throw a code if it sees a constant signal.

Someone could test this for us by holding the switch down and going for a long drive for us. Or holding it down before starting the truck. See what happens.

Also to add, is it a momentary switch in normal operation where you press it and it returns to a neutral position after being selected? Or is it a switch that clicks into position and stays there until you trigger it again, like a retractable ballpoint pen?

In the first case (momentary switch that only sends a brief signal) I bet if you wired it together permanently it might freak out the control unit a bit after a while from the constant signal.

If it is a toggle that stays "switched" until you "un-switch" it, less risk of an error being thrown since it actually WANTS a constant signal.

But once again, this is all theoretical and just my rambling.

I would assume it's an on/off toggle which would open or close the contacts each time pressed?

Give it a little time and the tuning guys will be able to override that feature. I had several F-150's tuned and bypassing the auto on/off was always an option to delete it or not.

I m familiar with auto stop on F150, we were making a little 'latch' (semiconductor language), whereas when it powered up the logic saw pwr up so the signal ran it thru the latch flip flop and changed logic output to the control module.

We tucked them up behind the switch. So it was just inverse logic applied upon pwr on.

I believe there was even a vendor making them.

A UTube instructional of a F150 owner using a short jump wire in the back of the switch. Basically tucks into two spots that the comp reads as you push the button. In this video it's a permanent fix. I suppose an on/off rocker could be installed inline.

The logic could be set at key on, to show switch is depressed.
