Buyer Beware - Tailgate Letters

I thought I was ordering custom tailgate letters from TUFSKINZ that would be different from the standard orders. They were definitely different What I ordered was OEM Area51 letters with a dark blue outline that cost over $50 which was a splurge.

Not only was my order not shipped in the promised 3-7 business days (ordered 8/21, received 9/17) the letters are 2 different colors. i wasn’t able to apply them until yesterday and didn’t see the difference until I had already applied 3 letters so the rest had to go on. The pictures don’t show how different the colors really are.

I was told the delay in shipping was because the letters did not pass their quality control inspection and had to be remade Obviously they only remade 3 letters and the ”quality control” person was out for the day

I would have been happy with the letters if they were all one color or the other but not mixed. I won’t be ordering from TUFSKINZ again and hope to get a refund on these letters.

On older trucks (not Mavericks), I have actually seen tailgate letters peeling from sun, etc. Of course, all letters from different sources won't do that. But I don't want to find out that the ones I ordered were the ones that did. So I'ma leave the tailgate as-is.

I bought the cheapie letters from Etsy, and they have held up fine. Knock wood. They had colors to choose from, so I got black for my silver truck. Peeling off the back requires a sharp blade to start. One word of advice, start at a 90-degree corner. On my last letter, the K, I tried to start at the sharp corner on the K, and messed in up slightly. It is only noticeable if you get up close.

yea, that would be unacceptable in my book. Id be getting them to send another set out or refund the money.

I can definitely see the difference! Hope you get your money back on that.

My plan exactly. I’m not looking forward to getting the letters off though because the adhesive is really strong.

I ordered mine from a random Amazon Seller, While the fitment could have been a tad better, The adhesive cushion under them helped prevent any gaps that I doubt they will ever come off normally. Good luck removing them.

Besides the mismatch in colors. They seem like they are going to look good on your truck. Hopefully they make it right with you.

I think I want some for my truck. If they don’t fix your issue, I know who not to buy from.

I think those are a standard one they use.

They’re the same thing without the outline and match the factory paint. It could just be the pictures but yours look kinda silver/metallic which is definitely not right.
