Hello fellow MTC members. @P99Guy is finally getting caught up on orders for the tailgate cover we designed last year and is ready for our next project of importance. There have been many complaints about the buttons on the center console, behind the beloved rotary shifter, that are too easy to press. My wife the other day bumped one of them and it scared me (she hit the auto engine off button and the engine fired up when I wasn’t expecting it) Since our last design was heavily based upon opinions of the MTC community, I was curious what you would like to see incorporated in the cover. Some had mentioned smaller holes before? Do hybrid owners want access to the mystery slot? Is this even something that members still want? How long before mabett steals the design and makes a subpar quality option. Only time will tell. As for now, lend me your thoughts. Just like the tailgate hole cover, we want this design to be what MTC wants, not what @P99Guy and I want.

We would be interested in the cover. Just got our truck a month ago. We need to buy the tailgate hole cover from you at some point too.
Could care less about the card slot on our hybrid. We really don't use the buttons anyway.
Thinking you may end up with a couple variations like you did with the tailgate cover. We would be happy with a solid cover. While others may want small holes to hit the buttons.
Im more curious about attachment. How it will stay in place?

Happy designing! Can't wait to see what you come up with.

@P99Guy and I were brainstorming ideas tonight. Hopefully we will come up with something good.
a couple ideas were double sided tape (may not last in the heat)
Tabs that grip around the sides of the console
Or using the slot in the hybrid came to mind as well.
then we have to make multiple designs for hybrids, ecoboosts, holes, flaps, and permanent. Should be fun.

I do use the mystery slot to store my company badge in.

I have never hit the buttons by mistake, and I am not even sure what motion I'd be doing that would cause that. But that is just me, and if there is a demand for this, I know the solution will be well-thought out.

That said, a quick annotated photo might help others decide whether this is something they need or not. Right now I can't visualize what the extents of a cover would be, or how you'd attach it.

Getting an error regarding my address

Seems to happen every now and then. It's an issue with Square I think. I would reach out to David directly.

Have a hybrid and use a makeshift cover I made from some thin molded cardboard packaging. Does not look great, however, it is effective. I found my dog and other stuff could depress the buttons accidently, so created this until I found something better. I use the slot to keep it in place. A factory appearing solution would be great if one could be made. I obviously need to access the drive mode button regularly to use "slippery" setting, but don't use the slot for anything else.

We are working on ideas now. Just like the tailgate hole cover, not everyone needs or wants one. There have been several people to ask for one. I think more often it is dogs or when putting something into the cubby in front of the arm rest (my wife puts her travel mug there)
Mounting is going to be the biggest head scratcher for us, I think. David has some Ideas, as well as mine, we just have to get our heads together and try a few things out. I just wanted to get opinions before we start, unlike with the tailgate hole covers, we got opinions after 😆

Thanks for the pictures. I had a similar idea for hybrids, but with several people mentioning that they use the mystery slot, I will either be offering multiple designs, or making sure the slot has access.

I have been trying to get someone to create this. I’d love to know what you come up with. These buttons drive me crazy!!!!!. Just this afternoon I was getting into my Maverick with my crossbody bag on my right hip and my traction control got turned off. It’s literally worth $100 to me if someone constructs something useable. I made a makeshift cover that’s ugly as fuck but the double sided tape I used for the hinge came loose in the heat.
