Morning!
Well we are underway on this truck build and getting some initial measurements, figured I'd share them.
My truck came with the Pirelli Scorpion tires, 225-65-17s.
Taking a look at the truck this morning to get an idea of what may fit, here are some measurements.
The Scorpion measures 27-3/4" tall on the truck. There is only 1-5/8" clearance before the tire hits the bottom on the strut mount and the max wheel well opening, measured at the base is 34".
The offset in front has the front tire actually sticking out just a little past the front fender and the rear has the tire tucked under the rear quarter panel 1/2"-3/4".
Based on the measurements and the issue with the front strut base limiting the tire (a coil over, wheel spacer or different offset wheel would change this) the largest tire I can see fitting is a 31", which would pretty darn good. I'm going to get a tire in here to test fit. I think the rear would benefit from a small spacer to get the spacing looking correct front to rear, I'll get a set of those coming too.
Also, based on the strut being the issue, lifting the truck makes very little sense at all, which I was looking forward to. The wheel well isn't an issue for the larger tire and the tire size (as everyone should know) is what adds to the ground clearance. However, the front is 2" lower than the rear and leveling/lifting the truck is going to look better.
