Are you guys talking about this piece? I scraped mine up pretty bad. I ordered one from Fairway Ford and received it a couple weeks ago.

They were able to fix the dent without replacing the tailgate. But yes that plastic piece was needed to be fitted according to them before they could send it to paint. Originally they told me sometime early March. I suspect someone dropped the ball because when I called the Ford body shop this week with the where the hell is my part call it just happened to have “just shown up” So I suspect it’s been sitting in the parts department for weeks and been forgotten about until Ali called.

Without the tailgate badges it’s like mystery truck to most people. People keep asking what it is. I thought about just having fun and putting maverick in sharpie on the wood, but my wife would have been mortified.
Even better, hand write "Maverick" on the wood tailgate, and tell people it came from the factory like that. ;)

It's a good, inexpensive solution. I'd do it if I messed up my tailgate, but I'd paint/stain it pretty soon, or it'll start to decay.

Raining weather is always a possibility in Oregon but more so It was actually security. On our travels we had stops along the way at beaches etc. I didn’t want our luggage visible to other people. In order to “lock” the bed I screwed a 2x4 to the top of the plywood and you couldn’t see inside or access the tonneau cover pulls without a drill which I kept in the cab.
So your fix for rainy weather is a plywood tailgate? 😂🤔 jkjk i know its temporary.

PS the cost of finished plywood would be as much as new tailgate LOL not really but dang has anyone been to home depot or a lumber yard lately? 90 bucks for plywood.

Good job on the temp tail gate. It will do the job. You going to paint/seal it?

New Years Day I was hauling a Christmas tree to be recycled with the tailgate down and I backed myself into a tree(FYI backup camera is in the tailgate). My truck with 500 miles on it needed a repair. I have been waiting for a new top cap for the tailgate from Ford for 3 months now. Rather than renting a new truck I decided to use the flex bed and build a temporary replacement. I recently took the Maverick on a 1500 mile road trip with my rigged up tailgate through Oregon and the Redwoods. I piled 4 people into the truck. The cab comfortably fit my wife, myself, and my 2 kids. We carried 4 suitcases in the bed along with a large cooler and a few crates of food. It was plenty powerful on the highway, mountains, and did great off-road and even on some small river crossings. I put new gator back flaps on before the trip which has reduced the amount of mud splashed onto the truck considerably.

Mileage has been very disappointing with BFG K02’s. I was averaging 23-25 hwy and regularly get 17mpg city on a very stop and go urban commute. I’m torn on selling it and getting the hybrid, but I worry that I will miss the power, softer ride, and look of the FX4. Either decision will leave me with some regrets. This has been my favorite vehicle ever. Upgraded tires are 17/245

As an aside I also average 21 MPG combined with the standard Pirelli's on my FX4. Highway driving is far better at 30 but I live in a town without much highway driving. I have always been disappointed by this but I LOVE this truck..

Ford tells me I should have a fixed tailgate this week so I’m not going to bother treating the wood.

Funny. Saw you drive by my house the other day. Not too many Mavericks with bespoke tailgates on the road.

I could see a large “Kirkland Signature” logo on the back.

Tell everyone you had to buy 6 of them to get the deal.

What neighborhood u in?
East Moreland. I had spotted your Maverick around the neighborhood before as there aren't many yet. Was driving home with my wife yesterday and pointed out your Maverick and commented on having seen your "custom" work online. Truly a one of a kind.

Small world.
