I bought it used from Facebook Marketplace for $300 because the soft cover was a little dry cracked and was letting in water. He had it mounted on top of a Tacoma all year long and he was looking to replace it with a larger hard shell one. He said he didn't know exactly what model it was but from the dimensions, I'm guessing it is a Tepui Ayer. This tent is almost too big for my truck. The tight squeeze is when (un)folding it, it barely fits between the latch pins for the tailgate. Keep a lookout for used ones with broken/missing ladders or covers. You really do not need either when putting it in the bed, under the tonneau cover :) https://offroadtents.com/products/tepui-ayer-2-person-roof-top-tent

Here is a little video I made, setting it up in the wild for the first time. I does have a rain-fly and It is in this video. On this Buck Rock trip, I decided to try it with the rain fly off, thinking I could star gaze a little behind the protection of the bug screens. All six panels have a wind cover and a bug screen that can separately unzip and open all the way up. The door that faces the cab of the truck seems to be built the same exact way as the door nearest the ladder. This makes me think that someday, if the main door zipper breaks or wears out, I could just spin it around and use the other door. To take off the rain fly is is just 6 buckles and it comes right off to toss in the back seat.

Great pics, thanks for sharing. Makes me wish I was young again to do that .
Not sure how old you are, or what health problems you may have, but times have changed. This is a pedal assist ebike and I’m 55 years old and overweight (6’3”, 250 lbs). I can get around on this bike similar to when I was biking at age 25, 210 lbs and very fit.

This was an 8 hour day of hiking, biking, hanging out at the lodges and eating at restaurants. 3 hours of it was spent pedaling. The manufacturer claims 70 miles of range on a battery charge, on the “eco” setting. I can legit get 60 miles of range, even at my weight.

I just turned 52. I have been into flying drones for the last couple years and drones are not allowed in pretty much every National Park and California State Park. For this, I have been getting into exploring and camping in National Forest and BLM lands. I let my National Park Annual Pass go several years ago. This last winter, I learned that they do allow limited dispersed camping in Death Valley National Park and I had to head out there and check it out. For that trip, I did buy the all parks annual pass again. That means Yosemite Valley is on the list for this winter, while I have the annual pass :)

Great video skills...I know it takes a lot of time. Thanks for sharing!!!
Could I ask? Does your drone have a "follow me" command?

I've been all over that area (on off-road motorcycles) and love the area above Bishop with all the old movie scenes.... especially Alabama Hills. Some amazing scenery all over the area.
I have a DJI Mini 4 Pro and yes it does have the object tracking but I have not messed with it much. The beginning of this video is me experimenting with the object tracking.

I went through Alabama Hills, last winter, looking for a dispersed campsite, on a Thursday, and no luck lol. It IS very beautiful there. That was one of the early tests for the capabilities of my Tremor. As I got more and more desperate to find an open spot, I went down more and more difficult paths to find a one. I never did. I ended up camping somewhere just north of Alabama Hills, at an old mine shaft, on land that I believe technically belonged to the Los Angeles County Water District hehe

Last time I was there a Forest Ranger pulled up to my campsite and told me I had to move...they were having serious problems with aggressive Black Bears. I would have never thought that that area had BEARS.

For clarification to people that live in other parts of the country, these bears are not aggressive like a male mountain lion is, or like a grizzly is.

The problem is that with California’s massive population, there are thousands of campers that come each year, all of them bringing food. The bears have become semi-tame, knowing that they can go into the camps and get food and that the humans, while not prey, are also not a threat to them. So they will go into your camp and tear through anything that smells tasty. And it’s only if you try to confront them, that they can become a threat.

In the no-fly zones, you could try this:

I have a newer one, the X5. It works like the video shows. But I don’t use it often. It’s a novelty that makes interesting shots, but if you’re in the business of making interesting shots, then it totally makes sense to have.

Though, not always the case for bears, except for ones that maybe attack people, I saw a few signs in Florida that said, "A fed gator is a dead gator."

My preferred dispersed camping sights are usually on hill tops or ridges. I like to stay away from water or meadows to stay away from mosquitoes. I like to think that this preference also reduces my chances of encountering bears, dogs, and cats :-|

Can you tell us about your bike? Can it also go full electric? I am looking to get back into biking and it would be nice to have something that can get me up steep inclines and can carry me if I wear myself out peddling.
