RE: Oil analysis report - I am just curious, if the report comes back with higher than "normal" readings, what does one do about it? Especially if the Mav is running fine.
You start doing oil change every 1000 miles. 😁

I do oil change when the car tells me it's time.

Believe it or not, back in the day, the manufacturers recommended getting that first oil change at around 1000 miles to remove the "break in" oil. After that, it was every 6 months or 6000 miles, whichever came first. It later got extended to 7500 miles, until the new "oil life" indicators became common on cars.

Fast forward to today, they no longer recommend that early oil change, though I don't like to go too long on that first one because of reasons shown in these threads - a lot of leftover manufacturing debris in the bottom of the pan. Yes, the filter will capture much of the debris as it passes through on its way to the rest of the engine, but there is a certain amount of peace of mind that comes with not having much of it in the pan in the first place.

Oh, others have noted the green tint to new oil that comes with the vehicle. That has a purpose (or so I've heard) - it's a tint that's added, that reacts to black light (UV lamps) that is used to spot leaks before the first oil change. When they put it on the lift, prior to pulling the drain plug, they shine the light all around the bottom of the engine. The tinting agent in the oil will react to the UV light and show where any leaks are. A good way to ensure that there are no leaks, early on before they become a problem.
