Hi, fellow Maverick fans!
I received a push notification from FordPass app today that someone named "Megan" is requesting access to my Maverick! Are you kidding me🤬
Googling it, there are threads on the same subject at RaptorForum and MachEForum...so nothing new with FordPass.
Needless to say, but worth stressing, hit "DENY" at the bottom of screen immediately! Not just delete it.
If you receive this message, that means someone recorded your VIN or whatever and will keep hitting you with this vehicle access request. If you accidentally approve the access, then who knows what will happen next to your dear Maverick.
Of course, you can always do "Master Reset" but just such a hassle😖

One of the reasons I did a "Master Reset" after playing with the system for a few weeks. I really have no need for an "app" for my truck.
And don't dismiss me as an old tech-challenged curmudgeon, I have been close to advanced tech and cyber security in a significant way for quite some time.
Sure, it is usually benign and maybe convenient for some, but it is another threat vector.

I wonder if Megan wanted to add her Maverick to her FordPass account and typed the VIN incorrectly.

I agree...I am not sure what FordPass app is good for at this point. However, it seems to me that if you had not associated your Mav's VIN with FordPass, anyone can "claim" the unassociated VIN with their Ford account🥶 With all the excitements of my Mav finally arriving, I honestly can't remember what I did to set up FordPass...I think I linked my Mav VIN to my Ford account as soon as it was assigned...long before the vehicle was even built🤣

It's kind of bonkers you can add any vehicle to your account as long as you have the VIN.
They could at least have a security check where you need some random 4 digit number off the door sticker!

You need to be in the vehicle to initially set up FordPass. After that you need to authorize each additional person's access. It is not possible to get around this without a master reset. A PIN is unnecessary.

The threat exists even if you reset and is probably greater. When the app is connected you get notifications if someone else is trying to access your account. You will not get anything if you remove that. All Ford vehicles can be connected to by the dealer that have connected sync 3 or Sync 4. The only way you can disable it is to remove the modem completely from the vehicle.

The benefits of the app in reality are very limited. Scheduling starts is mostly what I use it for. Occasionally I use it to get my VIN and mileage. On the F-150 the app will tell you if someone is trying to disconnect your trailer.

Exactly! Can't be letting the wife near the truck, she might try to take it as her own!
My wife DID take my maverick as her own! (her jeep got totaled by guy running a red light)

If you remove your Ford Pass access you will lose your Ford Pass points. It must remain active (for 6 months I believe) in order for you to retain your points.

My main use for the Ford pass app is getting alerts when my alarm is set off.
I added the perimeter plus alarm as well. So any alarm set off by shock sensors or impact as well as doors opening will notify me via the Ford Pass app within a minute or so.

I will probably use it once winter comes back around for remote starting at work.

Thanks, VertigoFox, for your insight...I must have linked my Mav to FordPass after I brought it home.
Not to keep dwelling on my paranoia, but I realized that I posted my VIN on Ordering Tracking List:eek:
