Hi All,

I just got my Maverick this week. 2022 Hybrid Cactus Gray. 22,000 miles.XLT Luxury package.

I'm using it for my yard clean up business and want to save space when I fill the bed with yard debris. Is there a rack you would recommend, either over the bed or roof, that would be best specifically for me to secure yard work tools such as weed eater, rakes, shovels, air blowers, etc. Will they work with a tonneau cover?

I have ordered a bed extender. I hope it fits okay with the XLT luxury package because the "build your own" seems to find them incompatible. To add XLT luxury you have to remove the bed extender or vice versa.

Thank you!

There are a few racks that work with the Elevate rails, including the elevate bed rack, which will allow the use of a tonneau cover. I'm curious to know if there are any good mounting systems for tools as well, I usually just leave tools at the job site and come back after, but I don't run from one site to another just regulars that I work for all day.

I use my Mav for maintaining my rental properties. Water heaters one day, yard maintenance the next.

I would start by buying a tube of 3M auto seam sealer and sealing the full length of both sides of the bed. Otherwise they will fill with debris that holds moisture.

Some have said the seam helps drain the bed but I say not when it is blocked with debris. Plus there are 11 round holes between the ridges that are drains.

I have a dog pad on the rear seat that forms a "U" because it hangs on the front and rear headrests. I put my blower, chain saw there plus a tool box. The weed wacker is too long. The rear footwell below the pad is a handy spot for gloves, twine for bundling, battey charger for the blower, etc. etc.

I question whether a bed cover is a good idea and will be in your way more often than it helps. I lay shovels, long branch saw and rakes inside the bed. I don't need to haul debris very often as I have trash bins at the properties.

If I have tree branches to dispose of, I put my handled tools on top or along side the branches and tarp the load.

I don't like leaving my tools at the job site even though I own the property.

Here is a bed extender I made for firewood. It gives maximum length on the bed. Easy to take on and off if not needed. Made from an extension ladder. You may be able to put a couple brackets to hold tools crossways.
