It is really easy. Mine is also a Lariat Lux with both 360 packages. The camera cover pops off easily. The person who built my patch cord used the camera input plug and ran the mirror wires and a USB socket in the patch I think someone else is making a patch cord and selling it here, that uses the power to the lights. Once you pop off the cover , you can easily use either. Just be careful if you use the camera's plug and have 360. The guy had to add more wires to the patch cord to accommodate the extras for the assist package. I've had it this way for 3 months or so. There are YouTube videos linked here in the MTC, just start searching for the mirror and you'll easily find them. I had zero interest in splicing wires to do it.
Great - appreciate the help. I also have the assist package so, I guess the cord will need modified for mine too. Final questions, did you have the dealership do the instal and what did It cost you so, I have a point of reference. Thanks agian

This is NOT a dealership install. The person who created my patchcord just made 3 out of the parts he purchased, and sold 2 @ $30 each, and put the third one on his truck. He did not have the 360 camera, so he originally made the cords using 6 wires of the 12 pin connectors, but he had to add the other 2 wires later.

Frankly, I think using the light circuit is easier...and THAT person is still making/selling them. I think for about the same price. The picture below is what I have, but the creator has sold his Maverick and I do not think he is interested in creating more.

Hey all, as I wait for my Maverick to arrive I was wondering, what is your best mod you did that cost $100 or less? Looking for ideas on what to do on a budget.
I did Mud guards, leather steering wheel cover, two quarts of black truck bed paint, bed rubber mat, all reasonably cheap on Amazon. Enjoy. I got a white XLT and live it.

Which steering wheel cover did you get?

Is that where it allows the tailgate to drop slowly?
Tailgate assist = mini struts like on a hatch for an SUV that allows you to open the tailgate with one hand and it will drop slowly. It does not seem to offer resistance raising the tailgate.

Where to start? All of these I got for under $100 so yeah, in no particular order of favouritism:

Smittybilt Beaver Step
Keyed hitch lock
Custom printed Cubby Grill (with mag phone accessories)
Custom printed Cup Holders (fits in current cup holders, now fits my 40oz Ranger Water bottles)
Tailgate lettering and color matched badges
Tonneau cover drainage setup
1/2 inch rubber bed cover (custom cut from 2x Costco gym floor mats)
Menards 2x6 recycled lumber bed divider
AVS bug deflector
Dog seat cover
Stubby antenna
Screen protector (not installed yet)
Air bed for tailgate (haven't tested it yet)
Dealer installed rear mud flaps
Ford matched paint pen (surprisingly comes in handy)
Tailgate assist
Licence plate clear covers

Then there's the $100+ stuff but that's another post. It never ends, friends!

Tailgate is light as a feather... not sure why assist is needed. I did the chrome tailgate letters and it looks great on blue truck.
A feather? Do we have the same truck?

A 2-year-old standing under that thing would be a painful death... After much neurosurgery
